Hey there everyone, I know I'm slightly late with today's post, but it is Saturday. I hope you guys are having a lovely Saturday, I know mine has been pretty good.

Today, I bring to you my 4th painting. Now, remember, this was done on the new Ipad Pro, so the quality is very good.

Note: I didn't create a video this time around, but I did try. The issue is that this speed art render is actually bugged somehow. In the future I'll try to make these all videos with inspirational music. The result is a gif that is somewhat glitchy but still shows most of the creative process. I hope you guys enjoy and know that I will definitely be looking to improve my set up soon.

Chance to win physical Painting

If you're new to this series, in a few days, I will be picking a winner to ship out a canvas with any painting I've created so far. To enter for a chance to win, just simply leave a comment below about what this painting makes you feel. More information can be found here.

Today's painting is a blend of warm and cool colors. Bringing them together, and blending them up to achieve a sunset kind of feeling.

This one was painted from my imagination. I just sort of imagined what a sunset overlooking a channel would look like, and let my imagination fly. Which is awesome to do, it really feels awesome to do something like that you guys.

Just staring at a canvas, and turning it into something inside of your head, is probably one of the most greatest things a person can do creatively speaking of course.

You guys know the drill, this is where I reflect on what went well in the painting and what could be done even better.

It's very important that an artist looks at his compositions and reflects on the things that come out well, and things that haven't so much. It's how we push ourselves to be better artists.

What went well

  • Trees
  • Perspective
  • Horizon
  • Land mass

Generally speaking, I definitely feel like the perspective is correct. It does feel like your on some boat or bridge looking down a channel to your destination. I feel like the colors really contrast quite nicely. And while the trees are offset by many on both sides of the channels, I did want to bring in a element of randomness as nature is not uniform usually.

What could be done even better

  • Distant Trees
  • Shorelines
  • Colors for the shrubs along the beach
  • Missed opportunity for landmarks

Some of the things that could have been done even better is the color contrast between the trees and the background. I feel like those colors could have been done better to achieve a more realistic look. Perhaps even some shading could have come a long way to help establish some more photo realism.

The shorelines are not that great. I tried my best to replicate rocky shores. But I just do not understand how to achieve that affect using my iPad, I definitely need to research further, as this painting would have been way better with a more realistic shoreline.

I also feel like there was a missed oppurtunity on this one. Perhaps a light house on the distance would have been really welcome in this composition. My knowledge definitely needs to improve on how I can paint these thing in with the proper lighting, coloring and perspective.

What do you guys think?
Please leave me a critique to help me improve as an artist, or perhaps share any resources of tips, I'm open to pretty much all feedback.

I definitely think I'm improving. I feel the improvement, I see it. It feels good, and it feels right. Perhaps this is my secret calling in life? Who knows.

I definitely do want to delve a bit into making more fantasy and sci-fi works. Concept art is really awesome. Maybe I can even incorporate steemit in somehow, what do you guys think?

Well that's all for now, I hope you guys are having fun following along with me on my progress as much as I'm having fun making these progress blogs.

I definitely appreciate everyone who has been supporting this, and I thank each and everyone one of you.

Don't forget, leave a comment below on how this painting makes you feel for a chance to win a canvas of any of my paintings. If you need more information, check this link out.

Thank you for this wonderful tablet
The inspiration and fantastic sunset imagination is somewhat similar to the real sunset
Maybe the tyranny of red
The Sun Sunset Tribe in a few minutes has a mix color between yellow and bright orange
The color of the sun you have when the sun is bright
This is my humble view
A talented and creative artist

The most wonderful painting of speed art ,,, I think it would be nicer if I added the sunset with the end of the river, right?

wow...amazing art and lovely painting, its looks so beautiful
very good work,i like it,thanks for sharing

You talk about things you could've done better, but honestly, I cannot see a single flaw. You are definitely improving in your art, and also in your Steemit posts. How did you even do a Speed art image?
However, personally, I prefer the Speed Art videos because it allows me to go back and relook at some parts without having to rewatch the whole thing. Great painting, keep it up! :D

Fantastic paintings with harmonious colors, you have a creative style @malicered

This painting gives me a serene feeling.
I just love the shades of colours on the water from the sky.
@malicered you're a genius.
Thanks for sharing.
