Clara, the leader of the (Golden Roots).
What's up people, I hope you are very very well and are welcome once again to my art blog, today I want to present my drawing about Clara, a fearless archer which belongs to (Golden Roots) a very feared order of hunters; these hunters are very feared for their effectiveness and accuracy in hostile environments such as dark and cloudy forests, where there is virtually no visibility they never fail.
PROCESS
For the sketch the first thing I did was to try several poses in which I could combine the archer with her bow and arrow and make them look natural, this took me a few minutes, but finally I could create a character with a bearing and a look of confidence as if she was the best at what she does. For the painting of the skin of this character I started with sandy tones to build a mixed skin with more saturated tones.
I continued with the painting process adding a little volume to the skin with an airbrush first and then with another flat brush to better establish each area of the skin; finally I slightly blurred most of it to give a softness and delicacy to the skin and make it look more feminine. Then I slowly built up an expression on the face with darker and more opaque colors, for the eyes I used a medium brown to build a striking iris and for the lips I used a salmon pink to give Clara a slight touch of sensuality; finally I added some volume so that these details didn't look flat or boring.
The next step in the coloring was the painting of Clara's clothing, in this case I decided to create a kind of silk dress, but slightly loose in the sleeves and hips area; I did this with a fairly light watery blue color that would cover most of the character's body. After laying the foundations of the dress and adding the first layers of texture with airbrush the next step was to blend them slightly and then I added another layer of strokes with a flat brush to better delimit the texture and build a much more realistic and eye-catching dress.
For the hair I decided to use brown tones to match a little with Clara's eyes, I created the base of the hair with the watercolor brush because I thought it would give a better appearance to this character and above all a more differential touch. After finishing with the hair the next thing I did was to create Clara's weapon that in this case would be the golden bow, this bow has this golden color because it is the distinctive of the order of hunters to which Clara belongs (Golden Roots) and I focused on using a mixture of soft golden colors to maintain the appearance of special wood in this weapon and I also decided to use this tonality for the tip of the arrow to complement it.
Finally I arrived to the scenery of my drawing, this part I always like to leave it for the end since I keep coming up with good ideas along the process of painting the character that later I use for the background scenery; so I came up with the idea of creating a kind of dark forest in a reddish tone, maybe a little bit bloody. Little by little and with the help of special brushes I created some withered and dry trees in the back of Clara; then with a rough brush I added some more texture and details in the background behind the trees along with some layer modes.
