In the contest for this week, the object of interest is a Cupboard. Cupboard are furniture used for storage in a living room, kitchen, office or workshop. A lot of stuff can be kep in a cupboard this days, unlike when it was made for cups and dishes. I had always wish to know why it was named a cup-board. It turns out that nice cups and dish was something a household could be proud of, so they were displayed on the walls and in a cup-board.

Today, a cupboard can store kitchen utensils and equipment, food, drinks, clothing, accessories, linens, cleaning supplies, books, decorations, and other household items

This is the sample i will be looking to draw.

What do we need?

To draw the Cupboard, i had to make myself comfortable with all needed materials in place. Below are the items I made use of in the drowing.

A4 Paper	1	used as a canvas
HB/2 Pencil	1	for sketching
An Eraser	1	for cleaning errors
A Ruler	1	for straight lines
Colour pencils	1	for colouring

To make the drawing a little easier i will remove the doors from the cupboard.

The Procedure

Step 1 [Preparing the Canvas]

I started the drawing with my username on the empty sheet of plain paper.

Step 2 [Major outline ]

I had to start by bringing out the main outline for drawing the Cupboard, it looked more like a parallelogram

Step 4 [Shading ]

I felt the brown colour will make it look more like the colour of wood. I also made some shading with a dark colour giving the shelves a third dimension.

Step 5 [Finishing]

If this cupboard is in your room, I feel you should hung your cloths to the left, your bags to the right, your shoes can go to the top right while jewelries goes to the bottom left.
