What Are Steemit Keys?

Steemit keys can be described as passwords or unique keys which gives the owner of Steemit account access to perform funtions on his blog account and Steemit wallet. Just like every other Password, these keys are personal and should not to be shared with a second or third party. For this, in other to ensure the safety of your account, you must make sure that your keys are stored in a safe place where it can be easily retrieved. This is should be treated as important because if one loses his Steemit keys, that person will automatically lose access to his Steemit wallet or blog.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF KEYS AND THEIR FUNCTION(S)

The Master Key

The master password is the password that will be given to you during your signing up,it should be kept safe because all other keys relating to your Steemit account can b derived from it, including the owner key.

The Owner Key

It is considered the most powerful key because it can change any key of an account. It is only used when necessary. Its major function is for the recovery of a compromised account.

The Active Key

The active key is used to transfer funds, power up/down transaction,v voting for witness, converting steem dollars, updating profile details and placing a market order.

The Posting key

The posting key is what allows accounts users to post, comment, follow or mute other accounts, edit, resteem and vote. it is adviceable to login to steemit everyday with your posting key.

The Memo key

This key is used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds. In order to encrypt a memo, use the pound/# sign before it.

Difference between Master key and Owner key

The master password helps you to derive all other keys through your wallet. When you have lost your keys but can still access your master password and will be retrieved from your safe storage place while the owner key is used only when your account has been compromised.

All these keys are important so we must ensure that we keep them safe because we can't have access or recover our account if these keys are lost. Also, we should never allow any third party to access our private keys

I have completely retrieved my private keys.

Right now, I have also Learnt and understood how to perform certain actions on my steemit wallet. I will explain them below
