Judges 6:37
And Gideon said to God, If you are to save Israel by my hand, as you said,
I'm going to put a wool fleece in the era. If there is dew only on the fleece and the whole earth is dry, then I will know that you will deliver Israel by my hand, as you have said. "

The concept of "putting a fleece" comes from the story of Gideon, a leader in Israel, Gideon wanted to be sure if it was really the voice of God that he was hearing, and that he understood his indications. He asked God for a sign to show that this was really His will. So he put a piece of wool during the night and asked God to be wet, while keeping the surrounding earth dry. God kindly did as Gideon asked, and in the morning the wool was wet enough to produce a cup of water when it was crushed.

But Gideon's faith was so weak that he asked God for another sign - this time to keep a piece of dry wool, while moist the earth that surrounded it. Again, God fulfilled and Gideon was finally convinced that God meant what He said and that the nation of Israel would have the victory that the angel of Jehovah had promised in Judges 6: 14-16. Putting on the fleeces was the second time that Gideon had asked for a sign that God was really talking to him, and that He would do what He said He would do.

I personally think that it is beautiful to ask for a vellon and that God will listen to you and send you that signal so you know that he is in perfect communication with you, but it is not good either, because otherwise we would be reaping a weak and immature faith, and God wants us to we believe there is a sign or not, remember that faith is the certainty of what is expected, and the conviction of what is not seen.
