What is the exercise?

In most Crossfit boxes we find thick ropes that hang from the ceiling and they are what we need to perform this exercise that we can also perform outdoors if we hold the rope very well of any other object of nature or of street furniture.
To begin with the execution of this movement, we must hold the rope with both hands, as high as we can, with the arms extended while we stand on the ground.

We continue raising the knees to the chest and placing one foot around the rope to later extend the leg and press the rope on the foot that surrounds it with the other foot. That is, we must hold the rope between the two feet so that it does not move when we try to climb.

From there, we extend the whole body and go forward again raising one hand and the other and repeat the movement of legs and feet to establish a new step further up the rope. So, we repeat again and again to get as high as possible.

I RECOMMEND THIS EXERCISE SINCE IT IS VERY COMPLETE WORK ALL THE MUSCLE GROUPS.

ALMOST EVERY MOVEMENT IS MADE WITH THE LEGS BECAUSE THEN YOU DO THE PUSH TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE ADVANCING.

FOR BEGINNERS IT IS RECOMMENDED TO PRACTICE THE MOORING OF THE LEGS AS IT IS EXPLAINED TO:

the technique is grip the rope with the legs, as tu see in the picture , the arms almost don't use them

interesting your post, I have a question: How old can you practice that discipline safely?

EPALE, I started practicing functional for 2 years, and progressively I was adding crossfit exercises with weights. I have 1 year training weightlifting. the important thing here is to master the technique ... I recommend practicing a lot with little weight until making a clean movement and then going up in weight.

On the other hand to master your own weight you have to do exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, dips and sit-ups. for if strengthen the body in an integral way.
