The gradual loss of African values and morals led to the underdevelopment of the African continent.
Civilization which is so-called modern world development didn’t just take place in a vacuum but among group of people with cultural practices. So therefore it is considerate to call this a positive change in social cultural civilization. And any occurrence which is not in line with the societal cultural values are in contrast with the civilization.
It is important first to know what we call culture.
It can be easily defined as what human do or is doing with his or her present habitat.
This may be real or not and it is when there is changes in this factors, then we can find out what cultural civilization is really called. We can call it a development if these changes occur in the way that is in line with the existing moral and value system but reverse is the case when the changes which occur is not in line with the societal values.
It is important to know that moral, norms and values are universal assets which are not easily to change. We may possess some values which is associating with some group of people, but might entirely be their material or visible culture which may include clothing, drumming and dancing even art. Love, marriage, laws, hard work, taboo are morals and values which are non-materials (visible).
Success of the societal development is really depending on the norms and values because this are the binding pillars of the society. History made it known that civilization begins in Africa.
For example, the Egyptian civilization were the Egypt man in ancient times were moving from hunting to domestication of animals likewise from gathering to planting, using basic technology for irrigating along river Nile, pyramids constructions and so on. This great civilization is spreading to other Africa and to the entire world.
Africa is been blessed with different assets and values which is a gift of goodness from God which include natural resources like gold, diamond, fertile soil etc. human resources which include good leaders and non-materials resources are not left out such as peace, good governance etc.
Land quality, infrastructure resources are very vital in increasing productivity. In the olden days, to fertilize land, organic manure are usually use, land rotation are practiced.
The Europeans now open our eyes by enlighten us on how to promote good yield thereby introducing us to chemical fertilizers. Presently, to harvest just a bucket of farm produce is not possible without n-organic fertilizer is not apply. Our soils have been disfertilized and some part becoming acidic. These have been causing harm to our water life. Africans bigger challenge is now food security
Political cultural dimension are not in support of development which include peace and security, law and order. Even elders and chief are been given the responsibility to maintain a quiet community. Social problems are been solved by experts in a fair and truthful manner. The victims are compensated in a suitable manner while offenders are punished accordingly. Maintenance and peaceful co-existence have been the main objective of the traditional peace and conflict management system. Some important values are reconciliation and reunion, law courts and prisons where offenders were been dishonor before the public is not in existence.
Religion and morality aren’t left out in the social order, the promotion of supernatural beings and different ancestral spirits have been very strong and belief was they do provide protection to the entire environment. Like for example, the Yoruba have faith in Ogun, Shango who is the god of lightning and thunder that they are superior in controlling the rate of crime and corruption. In traditional healing and practices in aspect of medication, the witchcraft are very vital in treating different ailments and diseases in the African society. These beliefs do create and promote good cordial relationships and respect among elders, bring in kindness and also regulate the societal behaviors among the members.
The role been perform by traditional and native medicines and treatment cannot be counteract in every Africa societies. Healers were been heal with various natural ingredients been provided by the traditional healers for treating different ailments.
These were the doctrine of Africa culture until Africans were colonized by the western elite who started adopting another system which they call Neo-Colonialism through the creation of different corporations and organizations which are multinational.
