The Dolphin Show at UShaka Marine World in Durban, South Africa (Part 1)steemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

The Christmas and New Year break of 2013/2014  is one that I will live to remember. My cousins schooling in Manila, Philippines and I got all expense paid tickets to and from Durban, KwaZulu Natal Province of South Africa. It was a beautiful family reunion with my amazing uncle and his family. My uncle (a family physician), lives and works in Durban. His wife too (a pharmacist) is a working mother and the children are in school. We (my cousins and I) arrived Durban on Christmas day (25th of December, 2013), rested from jet lag for a couple of days and began to ask about tourist centers where we could visit. My uncle and his wife told us that they would like us to visit some places including the very popular UShaka marine world.

Summer In December

Contrary to my expectation, while it is winter here in Serbia, it is summer in South Africa. In the same vein, when it is summer here in Serbia, it is winter in South Africa. So it was summertime in Durban when we visited, with tourists coming into the city from many parts of the world. I remember boarding Qatar airways (Belgrade- Ankara-Doha- Johannesburg) with Serbs and people of other nationalities who were going to visit friends in Johannesburg. While they stopped in Johannesburg, I had to change flight to South African Airways  in order to continue my long journey to the beautiful city of Durban. Sitting by the window in the aircraft afforded me the luxury of  viewing the topography of  Durban and the Indian Ocean when the plane was descending.

A Visit To UShaka Marine World

On the 31st of December, 2013, we all visited the very popular uShaka Marine World, home to the largest aquarium in Africa.

Some Photographs during the dolphin show and by Durban Beach (Indian Ocean)

There were many interesting live events at uShaka, but the  most interesting to me were the dolphin show and seal animal show. Enjoy watching part 1 of the dolphin show

Oh dear, @vm2904! I'm really sorry that you never got a chance to see the dolphin show, despite having been to Durban several times and spending years in South Africa. Believe me, it happens. I have lived in Belgrade for years now, but there are some tourist centres that I haven't been to. Yes, there is no gainsaying the fact that dolphins are lovely and intelligent like you've rightly stated. Your upvote is highly appreciated. Thanks for stopping by and keep the steem fire burning!

@dragonslayer109, it's an honour to have you visit my blog. Oh my goodness! Really? Johannesburg is a beautiful city, I've heard. I only stopped over at the Oliver Tambo International Airport. Hopefully, sometime soon, I will get to go into the city itself. I absolutely agree with you that Durban is lovely and glad to know that uShaka is your favourite place to go.
