Jeez Louise... it's Lake Louise!! // Canadation D-3

Greetings, freezing travelers!

Two days ago, on the 27th, we went to Banff National Park and me and my family were able to experience seeing and touching snow for the first time; and what an experience it was...! It's been my mother's and mine dream for as long as I can remember, as well as it was seeing it actively snowing. And jeez Louise, as we parked the car onto the Lake's parking lot, we saw the snow flakes coming down from the sky! The happiness on my mom's eyes will never leave my memory.

As we walked down the stunning frozen Lake, me and my dear brother could not believe it was real; we'd seen so many videos and photos about the place, that being there was a breathtaking experience. There's something special to be traveling with my parents and paying my part in the trip with my own sweat money that I've worked hard for during the entire year. It's still kind of unbelievable that we're really here.

The wildlife and nature around the Lake and within the Park are so unique and amazingly different from what we have in Brasil, that some of the time I just found myself stuck looking at the snow-covered pines or watching the so beautiful Blue "Canadian" Jay. One even got really close, up to two meters away from us in the ground, and my brother was able to take a lot of photos of the beautiful one with his analog camera. And while that happened, I heard a father and son duo passing by, and the kid almost slipped and yelled "Jezz Louise!"; hearing that, his dad said "No son, it's called LAKE Louise..." and I laughed at the spot. The son was a little embarrassed, but I could see the happiness in his father's eyes. Maybe this is a really obvious Dad Joke for English speakers, but that doesn't make it a bad joke at all. Have some fun, travelers :)

The only time I ever skied was in Banff. I took lessons there, and my instructor was originally a surfer from Australia. I guess it was around 1995, or so.

My favorite part of that trip was dog-sledding. If you get a chance to try that out, I definitely recommend it. Just don't wear western style boots with slippery soles (I speak from experience😉).

Greetings, friend! We're hoping to be able to ski, but since we're in seven we'll have to divide ourselves between who's gonna take lessons and try out while the others do something else, because it's not cheap nor the priority of all of us... The dog-sledding really took my attention, tomorrow we return to Banff and I'll ask around about it!! (and I've already bought ew Columbia boots with special soles hehe)

Thanks for sharing your experience, I'll post more photos later about the Park and I hope it gives you a positive nostalgic feeling, and I also hope the holidays around there have been and continue to be wonderful for you ajd your family :)

Edit: the bird was actually a Black-billed Magpie, that you can learn more about here.
