Pele : The story of a Great Footballer of All Time
Hello
Today I'm going to post on topic sports. I want to write about one of the greatest player of all time 'Pele' . He is my favorite footballer.
Have you heard the name Michael Jordan? Many consider Jordan to be the best basketball player of all time. Didn't he have any rival in that game? If you search, you will find the names of some of his contemporaries with your eyes closed but asking people who are not involved in basketball to name one of the stars of that game shows that most people don't know about basketball but at least they know Jordan's name.
Have you heard the name of Mohammad Ali? When it comes to boxing, the name of which comes to mind. If anyone has any idea about the game of boxing, at least Ali's name is heard.
Football is much more popular than other sports but there are many places in the world where many people still do not know much about the game of football.
Although it seems unbelievable, it is true. The 1994 World Cup was held in the United States. According to the survey, only 36% of people there knew that there was a game called football, of which 10% knew that the World Cup was a tournament called football.
Not surprisingly, many of us do not know when the Rugby World Cup is taking place or which team is the current world champion in basketball. No survey is ever able to explain the whole of a subject but it can give some idea.
Achieving this quality of equating yourself with any sport is something special. Who has this quality in football? Even people who don't know about football have at least heard of Pele's name. If you want to name only one person in football, Pele's name will come. Statistically, it is possible to surpass Pele, although that is also a very difficult task but it does not seem possible to replace Pele.
It's really hard to talk about Pel on a very small scale. Still, I try to say something. There were only four players who could have saved Pele in the next era :- Diego Maradona, Ronaldo Lima, Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi. Many will name Zinedine Zidane or Johan Cruyff but at no point in their careers have they been told that they have left Pele or will be able to do so.
This is because it is important to play well from a very young age to get rid of Pel and to maintain good form at the end of his career. Maradona, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Messi were the best to start this work. Ronaldo was left behind due to injury, and Ronaldinho lost due to not being serious about his career. Messi is still running, but does not seem to be able to cross Pele.
Because there are no major failures in Pele's career. As numbers are added for success, so numbers are cut for failure. Along with great success up to this stage of his career, Messi also has some failures. However, it is better to wait a little without judging before the end of one's career.
Of the four, Maradona gave the biggest push to Pele's seat. I watched Maradona's game, I thought, how could there be a better game than this? I haven't seen Pele play, but if Pele has played better than Maradona, then I have to say 'Wow'. At the same time, everyone has to be realistic by removing emotions while judging. Pele last played in the World Cup in 1970, and Pele remains the first name on any list of experts.
Many names change from 2nd to 10th. Many arguments can be made for or against, but number one remains unchanged. According to most football experts, Pele is far ahead of everyone else. In 2000, under the auspices of the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History & Statistics), former players and journalists voted to select the best player of the century. He got 1605 votes and became the first, while Cruyff who got the second place got 1303 votes.
About Pele:
Pele of Brazil, known as the 'Black Pearl', is called the emperor of football. It seems that Pele cannot be dropped from the all-time best XI of any tournament he has played. Not just a footballer, but a fighter who has won the battle of life. Let's hear some of that life.
Pele was born on October 23, 1940, in a slum in Coracoes, Brazil. As the first child of a poor family, Pele had to work in a tea shop as a child to make ends meet. In addition to sweeping the railway station, he also cleaned shoes for some time. Pele's full name is Edson Arantis do Nascimento. It was named after the world-famous scientist Thomas Alva Edison.
He had innate talent in football. Since he did not have money to buy a football, he used to practice playing football with paper in his socks. Like other Brazilian players, Pele's talent shines through in street football but at the mercy of the superior, perhaps only 15-year-old Pele was spotted by Santos's great Waldemar de Brito. Otherwise, his talent might have been confined to the alley.
Brito took Pele off the street to the Santos club and gave him a chance on Santos' B team. Here too, he showed his innate talent and took his place in the main team of Santos within a year.
Pele joined Santos' main team when he was 18. Seba won the league's top scorer award for Santos in the Brazilian Professional Football League. Pele's performance in Seba's Brazilian league was so eye-catching that it did not escape the attention of the Brazilian government itself.
Pel's performance was considered invaluable to them. So by law Pele was declared the national asset of Brazil! Giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona wanted to sign him, but he never played in the European League at the request of the government.
To honor Pele, a law called the Pele Law was enacted in Brazil in 2001 to try corruption in Brazilian football!
Pel also has a good reputation as an extraordinary person. He could have made a lot of money playing in Europe then, but at the request of the government, he left it in the interest of the country with a smile. Pel did not forget his own childhood full of poverty, and built a special foundation in his playing life to help poor children in Brazil. And after leaving the game, sometimes as UNICEF special envoy, sometimes as UN special envoy for climate change, sometimes as Brazil's 'special' sports minister, he tried his best to help them.
Pele also has some reputation in global activities. Once he went to Nigeria. At that time there was a civil war in Nigeria. Conflicting factions in Nigeria's civil war declared a 48-hour ceasefire just to see Pel!
Pele has also been seen on the silver screen. The Black Pearl was first seen in the 1989 Brazilian television series Os Estranho. In the Hollywood film Escape to Victory, Pele plays a prisoner of war with actors like Michael Kane and Sylvester Stallone. In 1999, Time magazine listed 100 people of the twentieth century.
All these are the achievements of the players outside the game, now let's listen to some of the achievements inside the game.
Pele in international football
Pele's international football career for Brazil began against arch-rivals Argentina. The time was July 7, 1956. In that match, Brazil lost 2-1 to Argentina, but did not make the mistake of setting the world record in the first match. At the age of 18 years and 9 months, he achieved the record of the youngest goal scorer in the international arena. A career-high 92 hat-tricks, Brazil's all-time leading scorer (6 goals), a career-high 1263 goals in 1383 matches - these figures show little in the way of his achievements.
In the Pele era, there were no rules for awarding Ballon d'Or to non-European players. In 2016, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Ballon d'Or, a new list was released considering players who were not European before 1995.
Here are 12 changes to the previous 39 Ballon d'Or. Pele was declared the winner of the Ballon d'Or in 1958, 1959, 1970, 1971, 1983, 1984 and 1980. However, the names of the previous players are also kept for the honor.
With only one player to have won three World Cups, this one word elevates his achievement far. Brazil has been a favorite in every World Cup since 1930. But they could not win the World Cup for 26 years before coming to Pele.
24 years after winning the next World Cup. When you know that 14 goals and 10 assists in 14 matches in four World Cups, a record of scoring in two finals, a record of scoring in four different World Cups - then your respect for Pel should increase a little more. Let's take a look at Pele's contributions to the World Cup.
The 1958 World Cup:
At just 16 years old, playing in a World Cup for a team like Brazil is not an issue. That World Cup started with an assist at the group stage. Pele's only goal against Wales in the quarter came as Brazil reached the semifinals. With this goal, he became the youngest goal scorer in the World Cup (18 years and 239 days).
He then scored the hat-trick against France in the semifinals, setting a record for the youngest (17 years, 244 days) hat-trick in the World Cup. He also scored two goals in the final. He won both the silver ball and the silver boot of that World Cup. He also won the Best Emerging Star award at that World Cup.
I think it is important to mention some more great statistics to explain what it means to win the World Cup at the age of 18.
Maradona played his first World Cup at the age of 22.
Ronaldo got a chance in the World Cup XI at the age of 16. But Romario, Bebeto's crowd did not find a place in the original XI.
Zidane got a chance in the main team of France at the age of 22, and got a chance in the World Cup XI at the age of 26.
Messi got a chance in the World Cup XI at the age of 19. But he did not get a chance to play in all the matches.
Cristiano Ronaldo played his first World Cup at the age of 21.
All the players mentioned above are legends. The information was not given to make any of them small. But at the age of 18, it was introduced to show that getting a chance in the then Brazil team is a special thing. And when he got it, he used that opportunity very well.
Pele holds the record for most hat-tricks in Intercontinental Cup history. However, after the club changed its name to the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in 2016.
The great Beckenbauer of West Germany said:
“Pele is the best player of all time. He has ruled the football world for 20 years. Players like Diego Maradona, Cruyff, Platini will also be behind him. There is no one like Pele. ”
According to Cruyff
"Pel is the only player who has crossed the line of reasoning."
However, the most fascinating thing about Pele is the Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskas. He said:
"The best player of all time is Alfredo Di Stefano. I'm putting Pele out of this list. Because he is above all. ”
Nice bro...
