Get Some Jazz Steemit #8 - Aaron Goldberg

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemit!

Keeping up with the -kind of- daily "Get Some Jazz Steemit", today I wanted to share with you an absolutely beautiful song called "Lambada de Serpente", performed by the Aaron Goldberg Trio.

This song was originally composed and recoreded by famous brazilian musician Djavan by the 80s, but I first heard it from this trio and I found it really moving. The way it's filmed and the location, to me, contributes to a very special 9 minutes long experience.

This is not a jazz song per se, but the way is developed by this trio with Aaron Goldberg in piano, Matt Penman on double bass and Eric Harland on drums, makes it work.

NYC "Jazzed Out" is part of a serie of videos where they visit many many cities, like Paris, Oslo, Tokio, etc, and put different influencial musicians in unique locations within that city, and record/film a live performance of one song.
It's truly an admirable and beautiful work, with a very artistic point of view, it's not just the musicians playing.

If you feel like it, you can look it up, believe me there is amazing material there.
You would get so see musicians performing at a gym while people is excercicing, at the back of a factory in the street, in the middle of chess matches, etc, etc.
Truly amazing stuff and incredibly well filmed and recorded.

Funny thing about this, is that during the piano solo you will hear A. Goldberg (piano) sing along the solo. That's something very common between pianists, one of the best examples I can think of is Keith Jarrett, who sings so loud while he plays that some people might find it annoying.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did,

Here are the previous Get Some Jazz Steemit entries in case you want to give it a chance:
