Kabbalah: How much spiritual light can the current generation support?
A secret kept for millennia
The wisdom of Kabbalah was hidden for thousands of years, and just last century, Baal Ha Sulam opened it to all, Jews and Gentiles, in a newspaper that he founded in Jerusalem, "Kabbalah for the nation", a few years after the creation of the State of Israel.
A group of ultra-conservative Chassidics asked Ben Gurion to imprison him, for revealing the secrets of Jewish mysticism to those who were not worthy of.
Until then, only men over forty, circumcised and practicing Jews, married and with children, could study the Zohar, the Sefer Yetzira and attend the yeshivot (schools) where this wisdom was taught.
Of course, Ben Gurion ignored them, and Baal Ha Sulam, his son Rabash and then my master Michael Laitman, spread to the whole world a wisdom that comes from the times of Abraham and Moses, and that was one of the secrets best kept by the wise men of the desert.
As Mario Sabán says in his book "Sod 22 The Secret":
"The wise men of Israel understood that many of these secrets were to be revealed when humanity was able to bear them. The ancient Jewish sages said that each generation can support a specific level of light for that generation. "
Why now?
Because the current generation is ready to access this wisdom. They are not afraid of spiritual issues, they speculate daily about the existence of God, about the origin of the Universe, about whether the Universe is a living being, a gigantic mind where neurons and galaxies are connected, all in videos and chats through this brutal connection tool that is Internet.
Aryeh Kaplan assured that as the time (and generation) of the Messiah approached, Humanity would be preparing, creating tools and technologies, to receive this wisdom, so that the prophecy that even children could access understand the secrets of the Creator would be fulfilled.
According to Kaplan, from 1840 there was a scientific and technological jump perfectly detectable, sustained, passed from generation to generation, which was accelerated in the twentieth century to reach space travel (which Kaplan came to see), and Laitman in his classes always tells us the story that Baal Ha Sulam had prophesied that by 1990 a tool would appear that would allow Humanity to connect anywhere in the world, and that would be the signal that the wisdom of Kabbalah should be spread throughout the entire planet. The tool appeared in the 90s, and we called it the Internet, although neither Baal Ha Sulam nor Kaplan came to know it.
But Laitman, seeing that the Internet appeared, decided to follow the prophecy and created Bnei Baruch, a virtual campus in Petach Tikva, from where Kabbalah is disseminated and taught for free in 8 languages for everyone.
More than a fashion
There is nothing strange or wrong about rich and famous people who feel a spiritual emptiness studying Kabbalah. But it is not a matter of elites. Millions of people around the world study it with texts available in PDF on the web, through face-to-face courses everywhere, through videos of great, not so great and also bad teachers available on YouTube, including here at Steemit.
We can not measure the impact that this will have on the next generation, because we do not know the degree of spiritual light that this generation is capable of receiving, or how much can receive the next.
If Kabbalah is widely disseminated, millenary concepts that we now begin to rediscover through science will be popularized:
a.- That all living beings and the entire universe are ONE THING, call it God, infinite, aleph, keter or whatever you want.
b.- That the reason of our life is to reconnect us with the light that the Infinite sends us, the Creator, to live a life full of joy and fulfillment.
c.- That - although it may seem naive or foolish - everything passes through a very simple principle, which Rabbi Hillel told a Gentile in Babylon, when he challenged him to explain the entire Torah while standing on one leg: " Love your neighbor as yourself, the rest you can learn in yeshiva "
If you are wondering what is the meaning of your life, why the Universe works the way it does, how to overcome the painful stress levels of everyday life, what happens when we die, you are a candidate to study Kabbalah, be of religion that you are, or even if you are an atheist.
How much spiritual light can you bear? Only you can find out. I leave you a link, a video of Tony Kosinec, where you can start your own spiritual journey.
