But now the German company Herrenknecht AG in collaboration with the Institute of Geophysics of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), have gone one step further and have designed the Urban Vibro Trucks, trucks capable of exploring the underground environment of cities in search of of the heat necessary to obtain electricity.

Pero ahora la compañía alemana Herrenknecht AG en colaboración con el Instituto de Geofísica del Instituto de Tecnología de Karlsruhe (KIT), han dado un paso más y han diseñado los Urban Vibro Trucks, unos camiones capaces de explorar el entorno subterráneo de las ciudades en busca del calor necesario para obtener electricidad.

These trucks will deploy a device known as a "thumper" or P-wave shaker. This contraption launches seismic waves into the ground beneath the truck and a network of special sensors record the waves that bounce back to the surface and create a detailed map of the underground environment looking for an optimal place to drill.

Estos camiones desplegarán un dispositivo conocido como «thumper» o agitador de ondas P, este artilugio lanza ondas sísmicas al suelo bajo el camión y una red de sensores especiales registran las ondas que rebotan volviendo a la superficie y crean un mapa detallado del entorno subterráneo, en busca de un lugar óptimo para perforar.
