Ommmmmmmmm!
Sentient beings for the potential for enlightenment.
When we see Buddha, we typically think of the Indian Prince Gautama Siddhartha who reached an enlightened state. However, looking more closely, we discover that this means any person who has awakened and is now seeking enlightenment and JOY in the present moment.
Skeptics liken this to fantasy or dreaming and often conclude that achieving this state is out of reach for most. Yet, the Buddha was human, just like us. He never claimed that he was Divine or above any other man or woman. He realized he had reached a state of enlightenment. This condition is the birthright of every sentient being. Enlightenment is within the reach of every individual, even our dogs, and other animals, who are able to recognize and observe the Buddha Nature.
Oh that we humans would be able to act more like our animals who offer unconditional love, compassion, loyalty and hold no judgments. No matter how upset or sad you are, they always know how to give love and comfort. They display their loyalty in their own unique way and love you with no strings attached.
