"Standin' on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona . . . "

Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my lord, in a flat bed ford
Slowing down to take a look at me.

Standin' on the Corner Park opened in Winslow Arizona in 1999. It commemorates the song "Take It Easy", written by Jackson Browne and the late Glenn Frey.

The two-story mural was done by John Pugh. Along side it stands a life-size bronze statue created by Ron Adamson. It is estimated that about 100,000 people visit that spot.

"Standin' on the Corner was the first single for the brand new L.A. band called the Eagles. Who knew that they would become one of the best-selling rock and roll bands of our time?

It was an even bigger win for the town of Winslow. As Wikipedia states, " with that one inexplicable lyric about a nondescript street corner giving hope of a renaissance to a town whose economy has taken repeated body blows over the years."

Winslow was once a huge railroad hub. In fact it was considered the most important city in Northern Arizona. After train travel dwindled after WW II the town positioned themselves as an charming and interesting stop on the famous Route 66.

And now that song is stuck in my head for the rest of the day . . . . .

That's where I grew up! The corner is just a couple blocks from my grandpa's shop.

Interesting town. I stand on the corner every time I pass through it.

Yeah theirs some interesting things there. You were standing right over an underground tunnel system to. Can't go down there unless you know someone who owns one of the buildings but theirs a ton of old shit down there. Do you drive through Winslow often?

Few times a year.

GO ARIZONA!
Have you seen the Eagles documentary on Netflix? It was really good.
Take it Easy

Haven't seen the documentary but that graphic is very cool!

Great compositional work - I WANT TO STAND ON THE CORNER OF: Winslow, Arizona.

Thanks! I appreciate your comment.

I've sung the song many times, but never been there
