Sunset Waterfall - Drawing With a Promtp
A few times in our life we face artistic blocks, maybe if you are writing a paperwork or a song, making a painting or a drawing, this can happen to you. An artistic block can have its roots in a few reasons, it might be boredom for repeating the same actions over and over, others can be stress and even any emotional transition we are going through.
A few days ago I was feeling this way, I wanted to create something, but I wasn’t feeling creative at all, I had days without doing any drawing, my rule of drawing something at least once a week was broken and I wasn’t doing anything at all, my block was created by stress.
Process.
One day I decided that I needed to stop this block and that I had to do something, I was forcing myself to get out of the conform zone and I had this idea, so I asked for help, I will draw anything by a prompt suggested by someone. My prompt was given and the words were “Sunset Waterfall”.
Process.
My first attempt was a fail, it was a waterfall with a sunset in the background made with soft pastel. It was so unoriginal and the colors were dull, basically a boring drawing that anyone can make and that doesn’t show any advance on the creative department.
Process.
My second attempt was my favorite, it was colorful and so different from the first. The waterfall has the colors of the sunset, it still looks like a waterfall, but it has a different twist from the first. I sketched a base and I painted it with waterbase markers, after I have it colored I used a black fine liner marker to do the lines, with a big marker I painted the background with black and to finish I added a splash of white paint to the black.
Detail.
Suggestions that can help you to get out of a creative block? Do something different, if you are drawing or painting, try different colors, new shapes or style, think outside the box, you might surprise with the result and if at the first try you fell you don’t succeed, try again.
Result.
Thank you for passing by and reading my post!
Pretty rainbow waterfalls <3 The colours really pop with that starry night background :>
It does! When I painted it the solid black background didn't do much justice until I added the stars.
Thank you so much for your comment!
