MDL.life: What a blockchain event in Dubai really looks like
Dubai, the shining gem of the middle east. What could you want more? Sun, sea, palmtrees, beautiful beaches and luxury as far as the eye can see, yet, 80% of the people visiting Dubai are there for business! So were we, MDL Talent Hub was present at the Biisummit in Dubai, and here is a short recap of how things went and how things go in general, at such events. MDL Talent Hub had a booth in the conference room of the Ritz Carlton but we were also there as speakers. Upon arriving at the Ritz Carlton, you have to register yourself in order to get your entry pass, visitor pass for visitors and company pass for companies.
We, as a company, also received our lunch and dinner passes where after we got on our way to the conference room to attend our booth and introduce MDL Talent Hub to anyone who was interested. When hosting such events, it is important that you approach people, because it doesn’t always happen the other way around and you will be surprised to see how many people actually stop and listen when you simply approach them. The event started at 9am but people really started pouring in after 2pm, we had some traffic in the morning but were lucky to have our presentation right after the panel discussion which was at 2pm because a lot more people were attending the ballroom after that. A good tip is to ask the hosts to schedule your presentation in the beginning, after a break or after a panel discussion since hosts will be actively doing their best to attract people to the presentation room.
When the time came to have our presentation, Dimitri was on stage and the person sitting next to me, a real Emirati resident, fully clothed in their traditional white veil and long sleeved robe asked me who that was on stage because he was very interested in ͞investing in this MDL Talent Hub project͟. We started talking and he mentioned that he was interested and really liked the way we are improving the ethical standards in the entertainment industry. This is generally how things go when you have a well-structured presentation with good arguments that is targeted towards potential investors. The rest of the day, after the event, we got approach by many more investors who were present at our presentation and this continued well up until the dinner gala which was also hosted by the BiiSummit.
Unfortunately both our CEO and CFO weren’t present as they had already flown to Hong Kong for the Token 2049 event as soon as their presentation was over. I can quite confidently say that the BiiSummit was a great success and we met some very interesting people from all over the world, but the most notable encounter was with the local Emirati residents as they have a unique view on the world and an interesting approach on business.
