Hello Steemian Friend,
How are you all I hope you are all well. Today I am hosted by @mahadisalim Sir. SLC22/WK1: Advanced Electrical Transformers and the Power Factor. I want to participate in the competition. Thanks @mahadisalim Sir for giving us such a beautiful competition. I hope everyone likes this contest.

★The two transformers are :-
1.Step up transformer
2.Step down transformer.
1.Step up transformer :- | 2.Step down transformer:- |
---|---|
There is voltage low to high 220/415.So voltage is increasing. That is why it is called step up transformer. | There is voltage high to low 415/220.So voltage is decreasing. For that it is called step down transformer. |
First transformer turn ratio:- | 2nd transformer turn ratio:- |
---|---|
a= Np/Ns | a = Np/Ns |
= 4/8 | = 8/4 |
= 0.5 A | = 2 A |
Various parts of a transformer and the function of each part:-
★Tank:- A transformer tank protects the core and windings.
★Buchholz relay:- If transformer any problem like -oil,coil and Internal fault,that time this relay automatically turn off.
★Radiator:- A transformer cools by a radiator.
★Breather:- A silica gel -filled cylinder that prevents moisture from intering the oil
★Transformer oil:- Transformer oil insulates and cools the transformer and can detects faults.

Distribution transformer is used for our home electricity.
A distribution transformer is used in homes to step down the high voltage electricity from power lines to a safe. Usable voltage for house hold appliances and lighting.
Answer:- | Here, |
---|---|
KVA= KW/PF | KW= 5000 |
= 5000/0.9 | We know, |
= 5555.55~5555KVA | Pf = 0.9 |
6000 KVA transformer will be required for a 5000 KW load.
Transformer Description | Details |
---|---|
Transformer name:- | Energypac |
Transformer ratio:- | 2500 KVA |
Primary voltage (HV):- | 33000V |
Secondary voltage (HV):- | 415V |
Current (HV):- | 43.74A |
Current (LV):- | 3478.11A |

I know the
Power factor (PF) is a measure of how efficiently an electrical system uses electricity.So the power factor means how much electricity we use. It's calculated by dividing the real power (kW) by the apparent
power (kVA)
PF=kW/kVA
In my country(Bangladesh) fixed the power factor value from 0.95 to 1.00.
Three differences:-
1) One transformer HT Voltage is:- 33000V and other is - 11000V.
2) One transformer current HT:- 10.5A and LT - 278.2A and other current HT 43.74A. LT - 3478.11A.
3) One transformer:- 2500 KVA and other 200 KVA.
Determine Name | True/False |
---|---|
1. The name of the oil used in a transformer is pyranol. | True |
2. The core loss of the transformer is in the winding. | False |
3. The efficiency of the transformer is less than that of other electrical devices. | False |
4. The transformer rating is in KW. | False |
5. The transformer's insulation test is done with a megger meter. | True |
