Please tell me you are having a laugh?
I asked my brother disbelievingly.
He had just informed me that he didn't have a suit and had thought that at the funeral we were going to this week he could wear his jeans and denim shirt.
Eh, naw. Why would I be having a laugh?
My brother bristled at my tone.
I paced up and down before him before turning and pointing a finger at him.
It's a funeral, you and I are two of the four carrying the fucking coffin and you say you are going to wear your fucking pyjamas?
I half spat.
I didn't say I was wearing my pyjamas.
He replied sulkily.
Just about.
I sighed and looked upward before taking a deep breath.
Do you have a black or dark coloured suit?
I asked through gritted teeth as if a woman with especially large and prominent teeth were felating me.
No, I don't wear suits. I haven't worn a suit since you got married?
I thought back to the suit he had worn that day. It was an impressive double-breasted affair. Light tan in colour and flared of the trouser. It would have wow'ed them all back in the seventies.
Only, I got married in the nineties.
Then let us go and buy you a fucking suit that doesn't make you look like a fucking clown.
I sighed.
My brother made an annoyed face as if weevils had gotten into his flour.
We headed off to the suit shop.
Hey, don't make fun of my leisure wear. I'm hoping your brother wore a bright blue shirt with his ensemble at your wedding. Really rounds it out with the shiny dark brown tie with fancy peacocks on it. I sure do miss that classic outfit. I won't even go into the shoes. Someone might grow faint reading this.

We stylish fellows usually try to stick together. The shoes were epic. Saddle shoes, all in funky brushed suede. Blue and light brown. With 4 inch heels, blue and brown layers in both heel and sole. Man, I looked DAP! Now if only I could dance...

Your brother is not alone in this. Funerals have become a much more casual affair over the last 20 years and the only thing I haven't seen is shorts and flip flops. I must get a blazer as that is the only way I can get around this in the future.
Shorts and flip flops, man, you know, if this hear keeps up we might be seeing that more often!!
Woo hoo.. that's what I want.. socks with the flip flops are optional.. but if worn should be black
But I think some people do sleep in their jeans nowadays.

I have one rather expensive suit that comes out only for weddings, funerals, and new job interviews. I think the tally at present is 3, 2, 1 :/
At least the weddings are in top spot. I should really have gone for a darker shade instead of foppish blue when I got my last one not so long ago!
No to the suit.. when I die everyone should wear shorts and flip flops to the funeral
I think the same for me, dependant on the weather of course. It's a bit wetter over here :0)

The suit is hardly used anymore, much less at funerals. there are very few activities left for them.
I imagine the suit of 90 of his brother.
