"An Apple a day keeps the doctor away" is a proverb that most of us are familiar with. It sounds like a made up proverb, doesn't it? Yes, it does but it is 100% correct. The benefits of apple are numerous and that's why, apple is seen by some people as a "Miracle-Food".

I didn't value or know apple was a special fruit until my friend told me how much apple has actually improve his overall health. I took it upon myself to do some research on the health benefits of apples and I was surprised that apple had many health benefits. Ever since then I normally take an apple at least once every two days and that's because I am from Africa, Nigeria, where apple can not grow, which makes eating apples quite dangerous if not bought from a good and reliable supplier. I will discuss on apple hygiene and how best to wash off the pesticides and preservatives on apples in my next fruit series, but let's continue with the health benefits of the Miracle-Food apple.
Why is apple a Miracle-Food
Apple is one of the most popular fruit because of its taste and disease-fighting vitamins, antioxidants and more. Apples are high in antioxidants, which makes it capable of decreasing the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, heart diseases, dementia and so more. Apple's fiber helps in preventing cholesterol from clogging your arteries which means, eating an apple everyday can help you later by reducing the chance of you getting a stroke or heart attack . Truly apple is Miracle-Food, that's why I always suggest to everyone I know to eat an apple everyday.
Health Benefits of Apples
I will share to you, the numerous health benefits of apple, which will help you in keeping the doctor away.
Apple helps to control diabetes: Apple contains a property called polyphenals which is linked to reducing the carbohydrates by the body i.e it reduces the fluctuation of blood sugar levels that occurs in the blood stream, which is an important factor for keeping diabetes in check and under control.
Apple helps to treat Anemia: the cause of anemia is as a result of deficiency of hemogblobin in the blood, which can fixed by increasing your intake of iron and apple is very rich of iron, which makes apple a good fruit to treat anemia.
Apple helps to prevent heart diseases: Heart diseases are caused by high level of cholesterol in the body and apple possesses antioxidant properties which helps to reduce oxidation of fats found in the blood vessels which causes cardiovascular diseases.
Apple helps for whiter and healthier teeth: Apple helps to reduce the occurrence of cavities in the teeth. Eating apple daily helps to reduce the ability of bacteria to spread or grow in your mouth because apples stimulate the secretion of saliva.
Apple helps to improve vision: Apples are rich in flavonoid compounds which helps prevents eye conditions such as cataracts and glaucoma.
As you can see from some of the health benefits above that, eating an apple is necessary for a healthy life.
Conclusion
Apple possess numerous health benefits which many people don't know of. I would like the government and private enterprises in the health sector of countries to create awareness of the health benefits of eating an apple everyday as this will generally improve the life expectancy of the world population.
I encourage every steemian to eat an apple everyday for it's health benefits.

I never knew Apple could be this medicinal. It can help control diabetes, treat anemia and prevent heart disease? That's just wow!
