The Survival Hax Shovel Finds A Home!
So in early 2017, I had a couple survival shovels shipped to me by a company that wanted me to try them out. Now I know what a good survival shovel is because we were issued them in the Infantry. Those shovels were combat ready in every respect. In fact, we even received training on how to use them in hand to hand combat.
But when I got these Survival Hax shovels in the mail, I had my doubts as they seems a bit on the cheap side with thinner and lightweight metal. There were other video reviews online for the shovel and they basically just took the shovel out of the box and gave it a once over without actually using it! My review would be different! I knew my infantry E-tool would NOT break. I wanted to see if the Survival Hax shovel would break.
Did it break? Watch the video and then we can continue with the story.
So as you can see, the results were not stellar. I expected as much. At the end of the video, I made mention that I thought the shovel would make a great kids toy. And then I gave away the extra shovel donated by Survival Hax to one of our patrons. The winner was excited because they had a young boy named Austin who had watched the video and immediately upon learning that he'd won, claimed the shovel as his!
Fast forward to this past fall and his family had a chance to come visit and young Austin was there with his prized shovel. And he used it to help around his campsite. Pretty neat!
Here is that video:
Congrats again to young Austin. Hopefully you will see a few years of use out of your shovel!
ENJOY THE VIDEO!

This is an awesome post. I hope the the company took your advice to heart and improved their product. I certainly won't want something so flimsy in my survival kit. But it did make a terrific kid's tool. I am glad to see that we aren't the only ones that get cracks in their pvc pipes. A bit of a pain when it happens but usually an easy fix.
Thanks for sharing. I had to go take a look at the one in our kit. We purchased it from an army surplus store and it seems pretty solid.
Good video! Visit our blog and see the latest news :D Greetings
Nice to see an honest review of a product! Thanks!
That is great! Good thing you weren't in the ozark backwoods (clay and rock) and looking to dig a potty hole...🙃
