Day 846: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: night sky
For @mariannewest in @freewrite
I lay on the grass and look at the night sky. On its pitch-black background stars shine intensely. They are stars and are very very far away. It's even hard to imagine the distance between me and them the vastness of dark cold space between them. Compared to that distance our planet is a tiny tiny little point completely invisible from their side.
And here I am - born at a certain time and in a certain place on the planet Earth and the surrounding our sun planets supposedly defined my character and to a big extent predetermined my destiny.
What if I (or for that matter anyone) would be born in a spaceship far away from any star and consequently away from any planet. What then would influence my character, my destiny? Once I asked an astrologist that question. He got really mad and me and called me a troll.
Ouch, somebody bit me. I jumped and shook myself off. That's a direct consequence of laying down on the grass and looking at the night sky.
Well, that person was quite obtuse, I think! I love to stare up into the night sky.
Really? What makes you think so? ) What was your line of reasoning?
To get angry without even pausing to consider your question it seems that he was closed completely to your question. What about the question would spark anger and cause him to judge you as a troll??
Ah, that's what you mean. Ahahaha I didn't understand that you talked about the astrologist.
Well, some people are very sentimental about their beliefs. When something comes along that throws them from their customary system of beliefs it's the big shock to them. It might be not a fair reaction, but the natural one. So yeah, I probably shouldn't taint him.
Cheers!
