Hiroshima after the explosion of atom bomb

It was August 6, 1945. In the morning the sky was cloudless and a light wind was flowing from the south. Visibility was clear and distinct ten to twelve miles away.

At 7.09 a.m. as the warning sound of an air-raid was heard, four American B-29 planes were flying in the sky. Two of them went to the south and the other two planes moved towards the Bing Sea, located to the south of Hiroshima, after having some flights in circles near Shukai. After the all-clear sound at 7-31 a.m. people came out of their shelters and started working.

Three miles away from the explosion center, houses were collapsed and razed to the ground. People inside it either died or wounded. Those who successfully got in the shelter died twenty or thirty days later due to the effect of gamma rays. Some concrete buildings remained standing there, but their interiors were burnt and damaged completely. Just half an hour later from the time of explosion, a fine rain was falling for five minutes on Hiroshima. Then a violent wind extended the fire and almost everything was burnt by the evening. Entire Hiroshima was smashed.
