Have you ever been in an emergency before? It might involve you, a friend, family members, or relatives. How do you handle such situations? Let me share with you the last time I encountered an emergency with my grandma, but first, let me shed some light on what an emergency means in this post.

An emergency is a circumstance in which someone is unconscious and needs immediate medical attention. It might involve sickness, an accident, or injuries, and if care is not taken, it could lead to loss of life. Here in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, I believe that ambulances are among the most valuable vehicles, and people always make space for them to pass, even though there's traffic.

I am even surprised to find out that ambulances can use one way if the patient needs immediate medical attention, especially in a busy or congested area. Do you know why? Because a person's life is more important than anything else. I hope I have been able to simplify what an emergency means.

Now let me share a story about my late grandma. At about 9 PM, though she wasn't feeling well because of her age, she developed sudden heavy breathing or Asthma. We called it 'Ikong iwek' in my language.

My father had to rush her to the hospital immediately on a bike. At that time, I was asked to accompany her to the hospital to assist her if she needed any help. We rode for about an hour from our location to the hospital. But thank God we successfully made it to the hospital, and the doctor attended to her immediately, giving her a liquid to drink and some medicine. I had to spend the night there until the next day to get the reports of her treatment.

Even though she passed away 3 years ago, the memory is still in my heart because she was my partner in everything, grandma's favorite, grandma's kid.

Sometimes you might see an ambulance with its horn blaring, and you might be wondering why they do so. It's because the patient needs immediate medical attention and they need to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

Thank you for staying with me to the end, and I am sure you learned something from it. I would like to invite @wilmer1988, @dexsyluz, @ocean-trench to participate.
