Seeing so many going after fads in the church. Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
One of the ways you can detect one of these "fads", is by asking the questions. Does the scriptures show the early church doing and teaching the same thing? Does the teaching center around a man or the God/Man Jesus Christ?
Just because it seems to be successful and there are seemingly high numbers of converts is not a reason to jump on the train! Does it agree with God's written Word?
The way I see it, we need a return to the secret prayer closet, we need a revival of the fear of the Lord, we need a revival of sitting at the feet of Jesus, a revival of walking in the purity and Holiness of God, a revival of hearing the voice of God and doing only what pleases the Father.
Most of the time, when one of these fads come around, we feel a check in our spirit, but if we quiet the voice of the Holy Spirit, we can easily be distracted into the next fad or wind of doctrine that comes around, masquerading as the plan of God.
There is no shortcut to personal revival, walking in Holiness, living in the secret place of the Most High, being led by the Spirit, knowing the voice of the Heavenly Father, sitting at the feet of Jesus, filling and feeding your heart with the Word of God.
The Bible warns in last days, many will fall away, they will be seduced, they will turn to fables, the hearts will grow cold.
This could be you! Perhaps it is already you! Time to turn to Jesus, repent and get away from these evil influences (that have a form of godliness, but deny His Power). Find out for yourself what the Bible says!
In Love, please check yourself!
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
We must know God's Word! Our only defense from deception is to know God's Word. The only way we can know what He will say, is if we know what He has already said. Jesus used the Holy Bible as a defense against the enemy. He quoted the Bible to every temptation.
Luk 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. The wise man hears God's Word and puts them into practice.
Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. If we look at the context of the John 10:10 passage, the enemy steals from us through false doctrine and/or through false teachers. Our enemy is a deceiver!
Eph 4 exhorts us to grow up and mature. To not be following after every wind of doctrine and the cunning and craftiness of man.
God will not ever contradict Himself! He is the God of order. He never changes. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever!
It is only the part of our life that is based on God's Word that will stand and last. It has to be based on the true intent of His Word.
So we have to ask ourselves.
Are our beliefs based on God's Word?
Can we find the early Church or the example of Jesus in what we do and our church practices?
Do we believe something just because some charismatic teacher that we respect taught it?
Even the Apostle Paul encouraged his hearers to check the scriptures and admired those that checked even what he taught against the already written Word of God.
I hear husband or wife say, I heard God say, "leave their husband or wife". This spouse is not beating them, not carousing, not drinking or in open sin. Right away, by what is already written in His Word. We should recognize this is not the voice of God. We cannot use God to justify our own sinful and selfish actions.
Many times God is showing us our own heart. Our lack of forgiveness or cold heartedness.
There is so much fluff and flashing lights in our services, but so little of the presence of God. So much talk in our homes about God, but so little actual fruit of a true relationship and submission to the Lordship of Christ Jesus.
God's Spirit always works in partnership with His Word. If we want more of His Presence, we must align ourselves with His Word.
