Building up to Christmas with Dusty the Demon Hunter - A Blast from the Past - Santa’s Little Helper - Part 7
I'm really sorry... I don't have time to write and format a Christmas memory for this morning's post. I'll slip one in when I get back if there's enough call for it ;) But here's the next instalment of Santa's Little Helper.
Santa’s Little Helper
A Dusty the Demon Hunter Story
By
D Michelle Gent
“Why are you here, sweetness?”
He asked the very question that she’d had in her head.
Dusty was dumbfounded, she couldn’t answer, so she nodded instead.
“Ahh, you’re here because you deliver some of the same gifts that I do. Your friend Ange, for example. This year alone, you have saved her from a fate that your own mother endured. You also helped her cousin and you have given passion to another half demon like yourself. You have even helped out a father and son that were estranged and likely to remain so. You performed all of those tasks with no thought for yourself, for gain or thanks, and you have come of age. You have used the gifts that I bestowed upon you last year to their greatest use and I am so proud of you.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
Dusty had to sit and think for a moment about what Santa had told her.
She looked at him as he concentrated on his driving.
She looked over the side and saw that they were passing over towns and cities but not stopping to land. She put aside her thoughts about last year’s gift and asked another question instead.
“Why aren’t you landing? I can see houses below.”
“Lean farther over the side and look back.” Santa told her.
She did as he said and she could see the same sparkles and sparks flying off the runners of the sleigh that had come from the gnarled staff he had used.
“I don’t have to land to deliver my gifts. I only do it for show if I have a guest. I don’t like to land because there are too many evils in the world. You saw what happened when I came to visit you. The goblins aren’t the worst of them either. They want to steal my gifts but they don’t seem to realise that they cannot be used in any other realm but this one, the one where humans live. Hopes and dreams are a human thing. No other realm uses them so my gifts are worthless. The goblins are greedy and malicious creatures and maybe they do know that they cannot be used elsewhere but, like spoiled and vindictive children, if they can’t have them, then they will break them so that none shall benefit.”
Santa sighed and seemed maudlin for a moment and the sleigh began to grow sluggish.
Dusty felt the reindeer struggle to maintain height and speed and she understood why Santa laughed so much – he had to, he fuelled the sleigh.

Thank you for reading, and for commenting. I'm glad you enjoy my work.
Yes my friend ..Please carry your creativity ...you will overcome this steemit platform..😊😊😊✌✌✌✌😃😃😃
excellent, you like the height of everything, especially good that you make us happy with your two works, with different genres. It's interesting to read, especially because the topic is relevant, before Christmas. A good combination of drawings and text very opportunely helps to draw a picture of what is happening in your imagination. Thank you, we are waiting for more;)
Thank you!
I've always tried to write in different genres... although I keep getting drawn back to the darker side of the human psyche ;)
My blood is brilliant and wonderful
It's a special theme especially in the birthday period
I wish you all a happy birthday
I've been following up on these important topics for me
Wow... Great story.
Nice moral lesson.
I try to think less of myself and more of others come 2018!
Thank you. Please try to read to the end, if I remember correctly, it has a satisfying ending :)
Santa is in our memories and emotions, he still exists in us, we are all children in Christmas. Happy Christmas to you. I hope you will write someday a post about Christmas legends around the world, it would be great. Keep writing you are doing a great job :)
Yes, I think you've got that completely right. Today, in town, people have been smiling a little more, they've been a little more willing to help another, or at least be patient.
I've heard "Merry Christmas"a lot today and every time I heard it, it made me smile.
I did a small article on the 'real Santa Clause' a few years ago, maybe I'll do a larger piece.
It s good that people don t forget how to be kind one to each other, at least at the Christmas. If you write a larger piece or "real Santa Clause" let me know please. :)
I'll let you know :) Thank you.
Yes, you're right... being kinder to people is something we should all try to do... not only at Christmas :)
Goblins are surely not the worst creatures. If Santa saw our politicians, he would have migrated to Mars to stay as far away as possible.
Hahaha! Having been a politician and therefore, worked closely with some odious creatures of that ilk, I can only agree with you :)
these pictures reminds of my childhood when i used to watch cartoons all day long and specially during christmas and was so delighted to see santa ......you brought back the memories of my childhood thanks a lot
upvoted
You're welcome!
Back in the olden days, when I was a child, we didn't have television... we had to go and listen to Mr Charles Dickens reading his latest stories...
Sorry... joking :)
Peter and The Wolf (Disney) was one of my favourite cartoons from my childhood. It's amusing to see my children were interested in the same things I liked - and I suspect my granddaughter will have similar interests :)
thx again for a nice story... don't read them all but this one is a nice one...
@rival, thank you for swinging by :)
sorry about that.. I was a bit enthousiastic.. I will remove it.. sorry once again
Not a problem :) I'll go and check out your blog again and read the post :)
I can't tell anyone else off for doing the same thing unless I tell everyone off that does it :)
Yea you were wrong @rival, but I kinda wonder, so many positive comments on the blog but she choose to respond to the one she didn't like, hmmm just my humble thoughts.
Seriously?
I respond to most replies on ALL my blogs.
The facts that:
mean that I haven't had much time to check the replies on my blogs, but this one stood out as needing attention immediately - in my opinion.
I put a stop to a flood of spamming blogs on my wall with one polite response and you choose to respond to that?
Hmmm... just my humble thoughts.
I got no beef with you, Your wall, your rules, I was just stating what I observed at the moment. looking at the time frame of the older comments. Have a lovely christmas, wish you speedy recovery
I realise you have no beef with me, but making a comment like you did, without having hold of all the facts, leaves you open to criticism - which you received.
If you care to go and look at all my posts, you'll see that I have always responded to people that leave replies on my work.
I enjoy reading responses but I dislike spamming and valueless comments and apart from flagging them, there's little I can do except ask the person to not do it.
I understand. once again, wish you happy Christmas and speedy recovery @michelle.gent
It's a season of celebration and to feel the cool touching hands of santa.
Happy christmas
Happy Christmas to you too!
