Kopaonik - Mountain in Serbia

One of the most beautiful and most visited mountains in Serbia is definitely Kopaonik. The highest peak of this mountain is Pančić's with a height of 2,017 m. At the very top is a mausoleum devoted to Josif Pancic, a Serbian doctor, botanist, an first president of the Serbian Royal Academy.

At the beginning of August, you can pick wild blueberries which can refill your energy on the way to the top.

The mountain stretches from the northwest to the southeast with a length of about 75 kilometers. This mountain is famous both winter and summer destination.
The ski season begins in early December and ends at the beginning of April.
The Kopaonik Ski Center has 55 kilometers for Alpine tracks and 12 kilometers of Nordic skiing.
At the very foot of the mountain are Josicanka, Lukovska and Kursumlija spas.

Kopaonik was declared a National park in 1981.
