This piece by the wonderful artist @romanie fits a tremendous world within the confines of its frame.
It was difficult to choose a single work from the endless pieces of magnificence submitted, because together they are evidence of a powerful consistency of vision.
I chose this particular piece because it has a tactile, embodied quality that draws one into its space, linking it to a history of immersive visionary painting .
At first glance it is an elegant and a spontaneously nostalgic image, almost decorative.
But as I made my selections I found myself returning to this piece of art repeatedly.
There is a generosity and tenderness to this image, a conversation the artist is having with their own memory and across time, evidenced in the mixing of materials and forms.
It looks and feels like an abstract construct of the complex thought filled in the mind, it shows so much life and literary emptiness in the four corners of the art.
It shows or rather represents a construct that looks to be a mountain stretching far above the top of a tree, protecting the tree which represents nature from the harms of the outside world, harms which are intelligently represented by this artist as tides, strong ocean tides, the human figure sitting on the steps is a representation of emptiness and despair which will soon grow and mature into hope and realisation, I had alot of time to look through and admire the various concepts engulfed in this piece, I think now that is the reason I chose this elegance and chose to represent what it entails with my very descriptive words.
Writing all this felt immensely accomplishing as a new writer, I had deep thoughts about this piece before I could understand it and then write my feelings about the piece.
I hope I met the standards of literary art and I honestly enjoyed writing this.
