Ciao a tutti amici e amiche di Italy e di Steemit.
Cosa succede quando le istituzioni vogliono aprirsi alle crypto ma il sistema bancario di quel paese ne ostacola l'accesso pratico?
Un bel cortocircuito!
È quello che sta accadendo nel Regno Unito che ha più volte dichiarato di voler diventare uno dei principali hub mondiali per le criptovalute e gli asset digitali.
Ma mentre le istituzioni cercano di creare un ambiente favorevole allo sviluppo del settore, molte banche britanniche continuano a bloccare o limitare i trasferimenti verso gli exchange di criptovalute, compresi quelli regolamentati e autorizzati. (Rif.)
In altre parole, da una parte si costruisce una strada e dall'altra si alzano barriere per impedire alle persone di percorrerla.
È questo il paradosso denunciato da Stand With Crypto UK, secondo cui una quota significativa dei trasferimenti verso piattaforme crypto viene ancora rifiutata o limitata dagli istituti bancari. (Rif.)
La motivazione ufficiale è la protezione dei clienti da frodi, truffe e attività illecite.
Un obiettivo certamente condivisibile.
Ma se un exchange è regolamentato, controllato dalle autorità competenti e opera nel rispetto delle norme vigenti, perché una banca dovrebbe impedire a un cittadino di trasferire il proprio denaro verso quella piattaforma?
E comunque, anche nelle banche tradizionali si possono fare investimenti molto rischiosi, prodotti finanziari complessi o altre attività speculative.
Per questo queste restrizioni sembrano più una forma di resistenza del sistema bancario tradizionale nei confronti di un settore che potrebbe rappresentare un concorrente sempre più importante in futuro.
Se un Paese decide di regolamentare e legittimare un settore, allora l'accesso a quel settore dovrebbe essere consentito attraverso regole chiare e trasparenti.
Mi spiace, ma io non me la bevo la storia di proteggere il capitale dei propri clienti!
Penso che se le crypto sono abbastanza sicure da essere regolamentate, dovrebbero essere abbastanza sicure da essere accessibili!

What happens when institutions want to embrace crypto, but the banking system of that same country makes it difficult for people to access it?
Quite a paradox!
That is exactly what is happening in the United Kingdom, which has repeatedly stated its ambition to become one of the world's leading hubs for cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
Yet while policymakers are working to create a favorable environment for the industry's growth, many British banks continue to block or restrict transfers to cryptocurrency exchanges, including regulated and authorized ones. (Ref.)
In other words, on one side a road is being built, while on the other barriers are being erected to prevent people from using it.
This is the paradox highlighted by Stand With Crypto UK, which claims that a significant share of transfers to crypto platforms are still being rejected or restricted by banking institutions. (Ref.)
The official justification is the protection of customers from fraud, scams, and illicit activities.
A goal that is certainly understandable.
But if an exchange is regulated, supervised by the relevant authorities, and operates in compliance with existing regulations, why should a bank prevent a citizen from transferring their own money to that platform?
After all, traditional banks already allow customers to invest in highly risky assets, complex financial products, and other speculative investments.
For this reason, these restrictions seem more like a form of resistance from the traditional banking system toward a sector that could become an increasingly important competitor in the future.
If a country decides to regulate and legitimize an industry, then access to that industry should be allowed through clear and transparent rules.
Sorry, but I don't really buy the argument that this is all about protecting customers' money!
I believe that if cryptocurrencies are safe enough to be regulated, then they should also be safe enough to be accessible!
