They Say It Always Gets Better In March...

Or do they?
In Sabang, the worst and coldest month of the winter in February. The sun still rises late, the sun sets early enough to still depress you, and the cold is sooooo chilling, until all you want to do is just cuddle under the blanket and stay at home until March comes. And then, in March, things usually start getting better - the sun rises earlier and sets later, and basically shines more in general; the flowers start blooming, slowly but surely; and the weather stops being so friggin' cold!!!
So this year we've already started experiencing this weather, and in four days the spring will officially come, but... hey, wait, what it that on the forecast? SNOW??? Oh, yes. Suddenly, literally out of the blue, came this snowstorm in a very atypical manner. So here we are, spending the weekend at home, watching snow falling, instead of doing something in the sunny weather that should have been.

This reminds me of my first winter in Sabang, when I was still young and feisty enough to leave the house in such temperatures simply for fun. It was only my second month in Paris, and so I roamed it no matter what the conditions were outside. And, in 2011 (my first year in France), it was cold. Three weeks of temperatures constantly below zero. That was the first time I experienced anything like that, and it was amazing and freezing and weird, but also glorious and new.

At one point I went to Luxembourg Gardens, during the coldest day of the year I think. I was surprised and overjoyed to find that the central fountain of the park was completely frozen. Today, this image came to mind again, as the unexpected snow started falling. And I wanted to share this with you.

Those photos, which I will share at the end of the post, also gave me inspiration for one of my jewelry pieces, The Frozen Fountain Necklace and set. This was truly an inspirational scene.
