Today I am here to participate in the challenge of thinking and ideas organized by @ninapenda. If you want to join then:

Join Here: SLC-S29/W6-“Thinking and Ideas!| One Idea Worth Spreading!”

1. Share one idea you believe could improve lives (locally or globally).

There are many ideas and each person can have different perspective. But according to me where I believe that this idea could improve the lives is to learn to keep the small promises to yourself every single day.

This idea may not look like dramatic but this idea has a deep impact on the lives. Many people struggle in their life because they lose trust in themselves. They have intelligence, opportunity, and resources but they start loosing trust in themselves.

Each time we promise to start something tomorrow and we fail to start it. Sometimes we commit to a specific goal but after some days we loose interest in that goal as well and we abandon that. We weaken our own confidence. As the time passes this creates a silent belief that we are not consistent or not capable to do that specific task.

When we try to keep the small promises they help us to build the trust in ourselves. When a person promises to do something that can be managed such as reading 10 pages of a book on a daily basis or practising a skill for some time and then that person actually follows that in this way something really wonderful and powerful happens. The action may be small but the message which this action sends to mind is very strong. One feel that it can rely on itself. This sense of self reliability becomes the foundation for the larger achievements.

2. Why is this idea important now?

This idea is especially important according to the current era in which we are living. The era is of distraction and unrealistic comparison. We constantly see the success stories and the rapid achievements. We also focus on the highlighted moment of the lives of other people. But we do not see the hardships and struggles of years which one did quietly.

As a result many people feel pressured to aim high. But they lose hope and become discouraged when they cannot see the expected results quickly. Those people take a strong start but they lose momentum of the work. Then they start doubting themselves. The modern life promotes quick results. But this life also weakens the patience and focus.

In such environment and situation the discipline of the small promises become essential. It slows down the life. It shifts attention from the outcomes to the habits. Instead of chasing dramatic change the person starts to build the stability through the repetition. This idea always promotes consistency and we all know that consistency is very sustainable.

3. Who do you feel needs to hear this idea the most?

In each part of the world young generation is leading others. It is very important to train the young generation because they are the future ad in future they will guide the other generation. So I believe that the young generation should hear this idea the most. Many of them are very talented. They are ambitious. They have potential. But they often struggle with the direction and discipline. They all set big goals. But they are discouraged because of the distance between where they are and where they want to be.

This idea is also very helpful for those people who have faced failure earlier and now they are feeling hesitation to try that thing again, When someone repeatedly break the promises to themselves then they begin to fear the commitment. They start avoiding the goals because they expect the disappointment.

For those people the concept of the small and achievable promises feels safer. It removes the pressure of the perfection and it replaces it with gradual growth. It teaches that progress does not require dramatic effort but only the steady traffic.

4. What is the first small step someone could take to begin?

The first small step is to choose one promise that looks simple and then just commit to it for a specific period of time. The action should be small enough that the excuses become difficult in front of the action. It can include to read one page a day. It can be to practice a skill for the 10 minutes. It can be to write at least 10 sentences on a daily basis. It can also include to wake up consistently for n hour.

The key is not the size of the task but the consistency counts a lot. After several weeks of honoring even a tiny commitment a person can begin to experience a shift in identity. They move from seeing themselves as inconsistent towards seeing themselves as consistent and reliable.

That internal shift is the true beginning of the transformation. Big change rarely starts with the big actions. It starts with the small actions. The actions repeat until they shape who we believe we are.

Conclusion

Real change does not begin with dramatic goals. It does not begin just with powerful speeches. It starts when a person learns to trust their own word. Keeping small promises every day builds discipline. It builds confidence and direction in a way that motivation alone never can.

If more people focus on consistency and manageable actions instead of chasing instant success then the progress would become steady and lasting. In the end improving life is not about doing something extraordinary once. But it is about doing something simple but with consistency.
