The oldest mineral in the whole of Odisha
The oldest mineral in the whole of Odisha
Earth is about 460 million years old And in the volcanic rocks, the world's oldest mineral 'Zarcon' has been found, about 424 billion years old! And that volcano rock is in eastern India Odisha.
About three and a half decades ago, a group of Bengali geologists had found his whereabouts. But the theory did not get strong in the opposition of the British scientists. At this time, the two ancient geographers put forth the old theory. In an article in Nature, they said, a careful analysis of the volcanic rocks of Zarcon-rich Odisha could show new information in the history of water in the world.
Rajat Majumdar, one of the scientists of this study, geologist of Kartin University in Malaysia, reports that the oldest Zarcon is in West Australia. But it is not volcanic rocks. Zarcon found in Champa, Odisha, is in the granite volcanic rocks. The rock is also the oldest in the direction of this rock. This mineral has been made from lava.
In 1981, two teachers of Geetics of Presidency College, Ashishanjan Basu and Ajitkumar Saha published an article in the science journal 'Science' claiming that they are aged 380 million years in eastern India. But a group of scientists at Oxford University opposed the claim that there is a mistake as a Bengali researcher. The volcano is 330 million years old. The Bengalis could not foil that demand. In 1995, Ajitbabu and some other Indian scientists again claimed that the stone was 350 million years old.
Rajatbabu says, "From the time of college, interest in this stone was created. Later, while trying to run the Ashutosh College and the Indian Statistical Institute, we tried to do extensive research on this. At that time, my student is acquainted with Trishrota Chowdhury. "Trisrottai is the original author of the essay published in Nature. There is a Chinese scientist, Yusheng Wen. Rajatbabu said that the synthetic high resolution ion microscope needed to analyze this stone. That machine is not in the country. He discussed this with Chinese researcher in Beijing and offered him the research. Research has been done with the help of Chinese organization.
These Bengali researchers are unhappy, Geologists do not have much government help in research. Many new information may come out when the government is active. Will the picture change after the discovery of the oldest stone?
