Fall Landscaping at the Homestead

IMG_3014.JPG

We have been waiting for weeks for the weather to cool down a bit. It finally has begun even if it's just a degree at a time. This is when we get to enjoy the finest weather for about 6 to 8 months of the year. I can hardly wait. Planned all week to go to the nursery with my sister to get some additional plants🌿for landscaping. I love a good trip to the nursery and this was a fun one. Lots of funky signs, old cars used for fountains and barriers, some nice pottery, cute little bridges, wheelbarrows filled with plants and planters made from old tires.

Was it cool out? No absolutely not! We did get escorted around on a golf cart and I picked up some really good plants. Always the thrifty shopper I looked for plants easily divided into several individual pieces. With 10 acres that's the way I have to think.

Things have always been pretty easy for me to visualize. So in my minds eye the plan is for some nice crepe myrtles mixed in with bottle brush trees to produce a lot of color in the summertime. As you may have noticed in previous posts we do love our butterflies 🦋and birds🦉. I also purchased a couple of plants that smell very strong of almonds. It just so happens to be called an almond bush. I also purchased 2 Texas sages, and 2 purple iris. The only edible plant purchased was a fig tree complete with little fruit. No doubt the deer will love investigating and tasting!

All of them sitting contentedly in their pots waiting for me to get busy. Like @bobbleheadstead says, things take time. Can't rush it.

After all today is Sunday so it's important to rest a bit before hitting the ground running on Monday morning. Still have to work the regular job before making the transition to a full time steamer.

At which time I will no longer write about homesteading. By then I will inherently know the ins and outs of crypto so will devote my time strictly to writing about such topics.
Look for me then as you will find me swimming with the whales 🐳waiting for a belly rub. Haha!

Until then you can find me here at "Fuss and Feathers" as your friend and fellow homesteader @mother2chicks 🐓🐓😗

Oh man I am planning on getting a fig tree to plant in the spring, and maybe a few apple trees too. I have got to find an almond bush to smell! Great photos as usual of your beautiful nature finds :)

Thank you my friend . Be warned the almond bush is very strong smelling. Likes full sun. Think I will have to put it further away from the house. Thanks for visiting. 🐓🐓

Purple irises are one of my all time favs! Sounds like you came home with a nice selection. Always fun when a shopping trip is successful.

absolutely gorgeous photos!! best wishes with your crypto dreams of full time steeming :-)))!
