Positivity for Steemians After HF20 | Long Range View
Hey Steemians!
I’ve got a Friday night Vlog for ya! I even put some lipstick on! Hehe!
So it’s been a pretty weird couple days. A lot of throwing the baby out with the bath water and crazy comments that Steem is doomed!
Yes the team made a major boo boo casting this “fix” out when it was entirely not ready! But...
Spend a few minutes with me and take a look at the long range vision....
We have an incredible array of things going here for us on steem, not least of all each other. Please don’t forget that in the midst of all of this scare while people are decrying STINC’s ability.
Ini and I are in it for the long haul- being on Steem this year has changed our lives. That matters! The ability to contribute on a cutting edge blockchain, earning a top crypto currency matters!
Ini collecting (guess what?) Persimmons! While I made this video
The patch is being made and the witnesses are taking in the data around RCs and how much is needed (10x...100x!) for normal functioning...All is this is getting worked out!
Keep in mind: this hasn’t been done before!
I admit it’s easy to get tangled in all of the details and focus on what has gone wrong, but there is a lot that is going right too!
Keep Steeming and Carry on (once your RCs are replenished 🤣😂)
Xo 😘

I'm incredibly hopeful, but also a little concerned. I'm not sure anymore about the alignment of the dev team with user experience and retention. They seem to not be prioritizing that. I'm starting to think they only care about bringing on a big fish like the NY Times or something with an SMT, and then they can get out of the business of running a site like Steemit entirely and just live on the backend, dealing with other techies, where they are more comfortable.
Now that might be a fine plan for the value of STEEM. I can't really say. But for me being someone who likes being on Steemit/busy/steampeak/etc. where we rely on the rules made by STINC, not some SMT, it is concerning. I don't want to have to start over on the NYTime's SMT, for example, just to get rules that are friendly to new people who will continue growing the community.
I totally hear this and “having to start over” has been one of my concerns as well (reasons I am happy to be building community on @dtube and @tribesteemup ahead of the SMTs).
As for your first paragraph, I think...
Your fears are spot on. I don’t think they care. I know @meno had an exchange with someone (I’ll try to find it and post the exchange here as an update/ update: it was his convo with Luke stokes as referred to in this comment -the entire thread with Luke Stokes would be worth reading ) where it was basically revealed that yeah they aren’t focused on steemit front end or the user base. Steemit is just a mock dapp on steem, the first of its kind and they had always intended for others to create better ones. They aren’t working on it, it won’t get out of beta, they literally don’t care... and are totally focused on scalability for tokenizing the internet.. we shall see how that pans out.
Well I guess I'm glad to see that I did figure it out accurately, though I wish it was a different truth.
Yes, it is important that we make sure we can establish relationships through here that aren't solely taking place on here. We are a TSU community that can be anywhere together.
(Though I concluded today that it surely won't be Minds for me. I've often suspected that place was a little too Trumpy for me, but then today I decided to follow a poll on there about Kavanaugh. It was hundreds of people believing him and single digits believing Ford. Confirmed what the random posts coming up in my feed (boosted by anyone, not just those I follow) was already indicating. Not for me.)
I just hope one of the SMTs manages to get traction before some other site like NRVE, Minds, etc. does, or their frontrunner advantage with Steemit will have been squandered.
That said, I'm particularly praying that the new changes don't undermine Steem Monsters. I really love that game!
yeah it is a difficult one to swallow. it's interesting joining something that we all have wishes to see it go in different directions yet really cannot shift the infrastructure creation. i still think we can make something amazing of this place on a grassroots level regardless of the slightly sociopathic and tone deaf leadership.
thanks for the review of Minds! I think i have an account there (i've dipped into a few other cryp blockchain social sites), but none of them have really "taken" for me. wow alarming to hear the stats on them believing kavanaugh. i couldn't believe what a baby he was in the hearing.
totally agree!
haha i hope it doesn't undermine SM for you too ;) i haven't gotten into that yet, but i did read your review of it the other day and it tempted me a little further lol!
This video helped me get through - I just couldnt comment at the time lol...
hahah <3 oh happy to hear that-- very ironic still though ;)
A lovely "view" in all aspects of the word. ;) Thanks for throwing out some positive vibes on a crazy day both in the Steem world and the US in general!
Oh my! Yes a lot of craziness. My heart is there too with the Ford/Kavanaugh hearing #ibelieveher
But we definitely needed some positive vibes in the face of the rampant fear monger if here too 💙
I wish more people think long term as you do. Conflicted as I am about the HF, I realize it was necessary to save the platform and give it a chance in the long term
while i am all for looking critically at things, i felt during all of the fearmongering of the past few days, a little long term thinking, "waiting game" patience was needed as a dash of spice into the soup pot ;)
let us hope that it certainly pans out well and brings some thriving elements to steem! :) thanks!
I've been missing the community, the chatter and engagement with people - I am an optimist by nature and will hope this all shakes out in a way that we can all carry on! I can't play the video (internet is not behaving tonight) but I loved this post.
Persimmons! I am so envious! :)
i've been missing it too! (although it has also been a good first break since december!!) i'm reading your earth post now and loving it.. we've been making persimmon beer and will post something about that soon. i'm sure you have so much abundance at your place too <3
persimmon beer sounds like happiness in a bottle! That sounds right up my alley! We've had frost so there is food everywhere and my home is a wee bit messy (chaotic) but I am loving it :)
yes! i am curious what it will taste like- it's our first time. i used pulp for the first one, but for the second beer we just threw in the whole fruits and added water. lol very simple!
you've had your first frost! wow! so much messy abundance <3 :)
I did the same thing with the rose hips for this last batch of wine. We were supposed to make a mash but my hands and wrists were far too sore from all the work we've been doing so I just washed them and tossed them in the fermenting bucket. After fermenting for a week it ended up just the same as the stuff we mashed up the last time around.
Sometimes I wonder if recipes just get overcomplicated.
yeeeehawwww....we are in it for the long haul....with ya'll!!!!!!!!
yeeeeeeah <3 glad to see ya here cowboy!
The good thing about collecting persimmons is you can always eat them :) Collecting Steem is only good if the blockchain is up haha
oh yes oh yes! eat them we will!! and yes... and if people collectively believe in its value ;) lol
I'm glad you see steem in the long term copletely positive. People spread negativity of things they don't understand. The new system will make people think more investors but not like only those who profit from it.
yes they certainly do and it's easy to jump to unfavorable conclusions and hop on a complaint bandwagon. that's not my style nor my game. there are some true negatives with the approach STINC has taken/is taking, but there are a lot of positives and possibilities as well. i do like the shift to more of an investor mindset, but i would still like to see ample opportunity for newbies and people without fiat to invest. i strictly invested time and creativity into this and i hope that's available for others as well heading into the future here.
Necomers can always learn and improve now. You can check how many opportunities we have in this post The positive side of Hard Fork 20 ! . I wish all newcomers see it and profit from all that. I was writing that for 2 days. But unfortunately I don't use upvote bots to make it in trending page. We always can find positive things here anyway. ☺
of course. i agree people (newcomers) can always grow and learn, but when i joined i was given the opportunity to comment, post and upvote more than newcomers are able to at the moment of this writing. i see that as a huge detriment! there are certainly many out there, including yourself, shining a light on how newcomers can thrive and be successful and i appreciate all of those efforts!
Thanks I think making relations in discord servers is much better than commenting here. Newcomers can learn there much more without wasting so much time here commenting everybody. I wish we will have a welcome message in steemit that lead them to the right communities and to give them advices how to grow. But they always can find a lot of tips here in steemit and dtube and youtube and almost everywhere if they learn well. All that is in my post, but some people will always find excuses.
