The Beginning Of The License Plate Guitar Pt. 4

in #woodworking7 years ago (edited)

I made a little more progress on the license plate guitar despite running out of propane for the heater. I'm so ready for spring and summer so I can work at ease. In this episode I'm showing the parts after a couple coats of lacquer and on into assembly of the guitar and the electronics. Here are some shots of the neck after the finish has dried. The figure In the maple and leopard wood is amazing.

Next ill be fitting the hardware and electronics

Here is thectailpiece.... It is a leaf from a folding vegetable steamer....

Fitting the pickup in the slot.....

Sloppy soldering job on the volume pot and Jack but I did come back and replace the jack later as it was defective...

This is the ground wire from the electronics to the strings via the tailpiece....

Making sure it all fits with no wires in the way and no surprises.....

Next is the fitment of the bridge which is this one is a .270 caliber shell casing.....

Right about now is where I stopped feeling my fingers and had to call it quits for the day. I ran out of propane for the heater. So when I get some more ill be back to show you all the buckling up of the license plate guitar and hopefully a soundbite to go with it

Thanks for watching.....till next time
