A Medical Prodigy Emerges at the Age of 7
In 2000 Akrit Jaswal, just 7 years old at the time, successfully performed a surgery on a 7 year old girl. This occurred in India, at a rural village near the foothills of Himalayas, where the poor community could not afford modern medical assistance. The family turned to Akrit who was able to separate the fingers of the patient which were fused together from a fire many years before.
Because if his impressive talent, at the age of 12 he enrolled in an undergraduate university course in medicine. At the age of 13, Akrit possessed an IQ of 146. At 17, he enrolled for a master's in applied chemistry, vowing to find a cure for cancer.
"I've developed a concept called oral gene therapy on the basis of my research and my theories," he says. "I'm quite dedicated towards working on this mechanism."
I believe not only is "necessity the mother of invention", it also brings out those who are bold and brilliant. The same holds true in business and life. During a crisis, look for those individuals who excel with courage, aptitude, and leadership. Those are the ones you must retain and empower. Those will be the leaders you should follow.
