Fun things to do
Painting on clay pots and clay objects is fun and a superb hobby or pastime. These could be given as little gifts or decorate a kiddie's room or closet. Never mind the messiness; just make sure the working top is covered with newspaper or plastic and the paints are washable and non toxic.
Children learn to be creative and also develop hand-eye coordination when using their little hands to draw, colour and cut with blunt-tip scissors.
The kiddo learned to make greeting cards at school. On Valentine's Day, he comes home from school bearing cutout decorated heart for his beloved mama. In a large cardboard folder is stored cards for all special occasions that he has made in school and at home. He understands that such cards hold special meanings and this is an education in itself. To be caring and thoughtful.
At home, his mama teaches him to write on birthday cards to his friends, invitation and thank you cards too. The writing may be haphazard and the spelling often hilarious but I am certain the recipients won't mind at all.
The kiddo has also learned to make alphabet bracelets from small plastic beads that he presented to his teachers and of course to his parents as well.
