"Making glass from bamboo" - 18 February 2021

Today I will try to be creative in making glass 🥤 using bamboo, it just so happens that in my garden there are several types of bamboo trees that thrive and thrive, including

• Bamboo Andong
• Bamboo Betung
• Bamboo Tali
• Yellow Bamboo

My homemade bamboo glass

First of all we prepare the materials and what I am using now is the Andong type of bamboo, the advantages of this type of Andong bamboo are that it has a large bamboo segment and some even up to a diameter of 20cm to 25cm which is usually used as a pole to make bamboo house but currently what I use in making glass has a diameter of between 8cm to 10cm

Materials :

• 1 bamboo carriage
• wood saws
• sandpaper (various sizes)
• glue (power glue)

How to make :
Cut the bamboo with a length of 15cm from the base of the segment and in making this glass, we can only make the base of the glass, while for the remaining middle part, we can make materials for other creations, such as decorative lamps or bed lamps.
After that the bamboo that we cut earlier, we refine using sandpaper, use sandpaper with a coarser size at the beginning of grinding and for finishing use fine sandpaper to get better results. After that, prepare the bamboo strips for the glass stalk, from the remaining central piece of bamboo. Cut 2cm then cut the bamboo that we cut into 2 parts, then smooth it again with sandpaper.

After all the ingredients are finished we smooth them with sandpaper, then the next step is to attach the bamboo glass stalk to the side of the bamboo using glue (power glue) then smooth the glass stalk joints that were glued back using sandpaper.
When finished and to make it look prettier, we can paint the outside of the glass with spray paint or varnish to make it look more shiny.
