Orphaned monkey gets a teddy bear mother

in #photo8 years ago

After his mother was attacked and killed by a wild dog, a one-week old langur monkey was found in Thailand’s Chumphon province and rescued by Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT). When found by the WFFT, he had been bitten and was covered in scars. After giving him a special milk formula, he was rushed to the local wildlife hospital. To help him adjust to life on his own, the staff at WFFT gave him a stuffed toy to act as his mother. According to the WFFT, hunting and the pet trade has caused a decline in the number of langurs. The expansion of agricultural practices such as growing plants and animals for human consumption, and urbanization throughout the langurs habitat, have also affected their numbers.
