Dominant Learning Style Does Not Affect Academic Results
You may have heard that the way or learning style of each person is different.
There are people who more easily absorb the lesson by looking at visuals or images, some are more easily absorb the information by reading or making notes.
Then, is this theory true and therefore children should be directed to seeking dominant learning styles to achieve satisfactory academic value?
Contrary to the myths in circulation, scientists say this theory is nonsense. There is not enough evidence to explain that dominant learning methods can affect a person's academic value.

On the contrary, many studies have found that the learning style mentioned above is a myth. The paper, published in the journal Anatomical Sciences Education conducted by researchers from Indiana University School of Medicine, adds to the evidence that the theory is a myth.
Research conducted by Polly R. Husmann and colleagues prove that learning style that is considered dominant does not affect learning outcomes. Many people who consistently perform the dominant learning style actually make the test scores unsatisfactory.
In their research, they involved hundreds of students who were asked to fill out a VARK questionnaire, to find out how their dominant learning style. Whether one learns visually, listens, reads and writes, or by practice directly.
The participants then applied consistently dominant learning styles and the researchers observed participants' learning styles to see if the participants actually followed the learning style as recommended.
At the end of the school year, researchers see whether this learning style affects the student's final grade.
As a result, researchers found no correlation between dominant learning styles and academic outcomes. Researchers recorded 67 percent of students fail to get good grades when learning style that is considered the most dominant.
The researchers concluded, the idea that "I can not study the subject of X because I am a visual learner" should not be followed again.
"This study proves that conventional wisdom about learning styles should be ignored by teachers and students," the expert wrote in the report.
They are more advised to break free in learning styles to improve the absorption of information while learning.
So, you do not have to look for what style of learning stands out the most in you and apply it. Do not worry, you do not have to.
