How To Connect 4 Routers Using Cisco Packet Tracer Application

in #utopian-io7 years ago (edited)

What Will I Learn?

  • You will learn how to connect 4 routers
  • You will learn how to connect between 1 client to another client
  • You will learn how to display the IP of each client

Requirements

  • You have a baseline about Cisco Packet Tracer
  • You have the working principles of Computer Networking
  • To practice this tutorial requires the Cisco Packet Tracer Application

Difficulty

  • Basic

Tutorial Contents

Cisco Packet Tracer designed a system or network topology that will be applied in the real world / work, because if we design a computer network topology without the help of applications like this can cost a lot. Hence, Cisco makes this application so that people can learn without costly. In this tutorial I will just explain how to connect 4 routers and get IP client

  • First make a topology like the picture below. The use of a black cable is straight red is a DCE series. I have included IP on each device.

  • Then fill the IP, Subnet mask and Gateway on each PC by clicking the PC then select Desktop and then click IP Configuration.

Fill all IP PCs in the same way.

  • After all PCs are given IP, switch to Router. Just like PC, assign IP to each connected cable port. Whether it is connected to a switch or to another router. To add Fast Ethernet and serial module ports in this way :
    - Click Router
    - Turn off the power by clicking on the power switch in the corner
    - Drag n drop module in empty slot
    - Restart power

  • Provision of IP on each port must be remembered so that no connection errors occur. To connect to a switch, its network ID is the same as a PC connected to the switch but distinguishes its host (use IP gateway from PC). Giving IP to Fast Ethernet port. To connect to another router, give a different network for example here in use is a class IP B. Provision of IP on the serial port.

View the initial image, the port used on Router 0 there are 6 pieces of Fast Ethernet port 3 pieces and serial port 3. It should be remembered which ports are used so as not to give wrong IP. The Fast Ethernet ports used are Fast Ethernet 0/0, Fast Ethernet 1/0 and Fast Ethernet 6/0. While on the serial port used is Serial 2/0, Serial 3/0 and Serial 7/0. After giving the IP on each port, do not forget to turn on the port by checking the box On the right corner. IP Settings on Router 0/30 means Subnet mask 255 . 255 . 255 . 252

Settings on Router 0.
Router1, Router 2 and Router 3 fill in the same way.

  • The next stage is to connect the PC. In this topology there are PCs with different Routers. How to connect it. Take a look at the picture, on PC 0, PC 1, PC 2 connected on the same 1 router. So in this case there is no special routing. So the three PCs can directly communicate / connect.
But on different PC routers need to set the routing again so that PC can communicate with each other. In order for PC 0, PC 1, PC 2 to communicate with PC 4, we set the static routing on Router 0. Because PC 4 is connected to Router 2 then Router 0 must go through the Router in order to communicate with PC 4. That means it has to go through the IP on the Router 2 serial port that is 172.16.20.1. So filling in Static Routes on Router 0 as follows :
    utopian5.JPG

-Network: 192.168.2.0 (address to be contacted, host content 0 although IP PC 4 192.168.2.2)
-Mask: 255.255.255.252 (/30, means the maximum number of hosts is 2)
-Next Hop: 172.16.20.1 (the IP to be passed in the port Router connected to the PC / address to be contacted)
-Then click Add

Then set Router0 again to communicate with PC5.
The point is the IP address you want to contact and then via (IP) where

-Network: 192.168.1.0 (address to be contacted, host content 0 although IP PC 5 192.168.1.2)
-Mask: 255.255.255.252 (/ 30, means the maximum number of hosts is 2)
-Next Hop: 172.16.10.1 (the IP to be passed in the port Router connected to the PC / address to be contacted)
-Then click Add

Set Router 0 again to communicate with PC 3

-Network: 192.168.0.0 (address to be contacted, host content 0 although IP PC 3 192.168.0.2)
-Mask: 255.255.255.252 (/ 30, means the maximum number of hosts is 2)
-Next Hop: 172.16.0.1 (the IP to be passed in the port Router connected to the PC / address to be contacted)
-Then click Add

  • For the next please set yourself. Below I have provided a routing list for each Router.

    utopian6.JPG

  • After all is configured, try testing ping on each PC to each other PC. All PC I have test ping and reply all. under Only sample (example) ping Only

    utopian7.JPG

If the ping is still Request Time Out (RTO) or unreachable host there is an error in the IP and its routing. Thanks and Good Luck.
