However, it is not good to wake up straight drinking coffee. Especially if the coffee is black coffee, because the stomach can be excess acid that will create a sense of pain and twist. And also not good, to consume too much coffee in a day.

Scientists looked at more than 740 studies on the effects of caffeine on humans, and they were all published between 2001 and 2015.

Apparently 400 milligrams of caffeine - which is equivalent to about four cups of filtered coffee a day - is very safe to drink and shows no side effects.

Pregnant women can consume up to 300 milligrams, or three cups of coffee, and children to teenagers is recommended only 2.5 milligrams only.

The study, published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology, looks at five ill effects of caffeine on health including: acute toxicity, bone / calcium, cardiovascular, behavioral & reproductive and developmental.

Researchers found that, as long as the 400-milligram limit of caffeine was not violated, there was no need to worry about consuming coffee.

Dr Eric Hentges, Executive Director, International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) North America, who conducted the study, said: "This systematic review provides evidence that we understand more about caffeine to human health."

But what happens if you consume too much caffeine? These stimuli can affect the cardiovascular system, bone health, gastrointestinal system, sleep quality and central nervous system.

It is also associated with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Consumption of caffeine consistently can also cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, fever, tremors, hyperventilation, dizziness, anxiety, tinnitus and agitation.

And a more serious lag, can cause abdominal pain, altered consciousness, muscle stiffness, seizures, muscle damage and irregular heartbeat.

Adam Splaver, MD, a cardiologist from Florida, USA, warns you can overdose by caffeine and may even die if you drink too much.

"Caffeine overdose can cause heart rhythm, vasoconstriction, heart attack, stroke and high blood pressure in certain populations," he told Men's Health.
