ABC Kicks Shondaland's 'Still Star-Crossed' to Saturdays
Three episodes in, the drama is clearly not a good time-slot partner with 'The Bachelorette.'
Shonda Rhimes may own the ABC schedule, but her production shingle is not infallible. Just three episodes in, Shondaland summer series Still Star-Crossed is heading to Saturday nights. It's the first decisive programming move of the offseason, which has thus far been business as usual for the broadcast networks. The period drama's ratings languished out of the gate, posting just a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and only 2.3 million viewers on Monday nights. Its latest episode dipped down to a 0.3 rating in the key demo, especially problematic considering the network gave Still Star-Crossed its most advantageous summer lead-in from The Bachelorette.Still Star-Crossed has already aired its final Monday episode and will go on a brief break until it picks back up on Saturday, July 8, where it should air the rest of its original order. Beyond that, the future of the show does not look good. Despite the Shondaland pedigree, the spin on Romeo and Juliet received a tepid greeting from critics. And even with substantial time-shifting lifts, of which there's yet to be any evidence, the show would still be performing well below the barometer for Big Four drama success. But weep not for Shondaland. The Grey's Anatomy and Scandal producer also has legal drama For the People on deck for the 2017-18 season.
It's not immediately clear what will take Still Star-Crossed's place at 10 o'clock on Mondays
