Developing A Spirit Of Perseverance 2
Joseph Joubert,A French moralist said: "Genius Begins Great Works; Labor alone finishes them".
Perseverance is an essential quality of character in leadership. Much good that might have been achieved in the world is lost through hesitation, faltering, wavering, vacillating, or just not sticking with it says Harry Truman.
If Nehemiah had not persevered, the walls of Jerusalem would not have been built in time. Nehemiah's report was that: "We kept at it, repairing and rebuilding the wall". The whole wall was soon joined together and halfway to its intended height because the people had a heart for the work.
Here are some ways you can develop perseverance in/for a leadership role.
Develop Your Gift and aim to do your work at the highest quality possible. As the king's cupbearer, Nehemiah did his work excellently; he was vast in knowledge, he handled his responsibilities well.
God has given each of you a gitt from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
1st Peter Chapter 4 Verse 10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
Never allow difficulties, challenges or suffering to discourage you. Jesus learned obedience by the things which he suffered.
Hebrew Chapter 5 verse 8
Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered.
David suffered under Saul, Joseph suffered under his brothers and Potiphar's wife; but they were lifted as they persevered in being faithful. God gave you the honour not only of believing in Christ but also of suffering for Him,both of which bring glory to christ.
Phillipian Chapter 1 Verse 29
For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.
