Public Art and its relationship with the space around it

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Art that is presented in public spaces lives with people in real time. People look at it, think about it, sometimes have to negotiate around it, and sometimes interact with it. Art or Architecture that is of the space and not just in the space makes for a cohesive viewing experience. Public work that highlights its environment creates harmony between the art and its surroundings.

Thank you so much. Like forward to following you.

Hi @musahixson. An interesting post. I like to see art installations in public spaces. Some become iconic to the area whereas others are more fleeting. Followed and upvoted. Cool photo of the steel balls against the mountains by the way.

I agree. The works seem to vary I lifespan. Thanks for reaching out.

It's really nice to see the way you've incorporated material and absorb / embrace the environment around your art. I like what you said about art "living with people in real time"... seems like so much public art today is created without any intention of genuinely engaging that human relationship. Thanks for sharing Musa!

I see your point. A little humility in the presentation of public work allows space for someone to connect with the work.

Thanks for seeing it in that way. Surrealism is the coolest funkiest art.

Thanks for posting this, in going to Jean a wee bit about art by following you and this post definitely gave me some food for thought.
