How to style your posts: Simple guide!

in #steemit7 years ago

As a new person on steemit it can feel like a daunting task to format your posts so that they look good. I found out over time that adding photos gives some color to your post, and people like photos so they could be drawn to your post.

However, formatting is what we are looking at here today. You could have photos that are too big as I had in the beginning or that are aligned to one side that your post feels empty on the other.

So how exactly do you format the posts?

Read the markdown styling guide. It is straight to the point.

That there is a Header 2 achieved by writing the following.

See also How I center my screenshot

  1. Drag and drop your image here as usual.
  2. Add the HTML tag center and close them as below

Explaining the HTML tags

You can also center text, like the heading above. or paragraph below.

center align: So all this text here will be aligned center and In bold because we have used the center tag. What I would advise is to play around and learn all these things. Eventually, you become a good at it. One thing to note, however, do not be afraid that you do not know all the formatting; you can always refer to the guide or bookmark this post.

Explaining how to create different levels of Headings

A Golden rule to remember to put space between the # and the word. Otherwise, it appears as #hashtag.
See the picture on how to achieve this.

Heading one

Heading 2

Heading 3

Heading 4

Heading 5
Heading 6

Bold and Italics

This is easily achieved by using asterisk *.

  1. italics text like this between single asterisks
  2. between two asterisks the text is boldened
  3. between three you combine all of them

*** Golden Rule*** No space between the word and the * and the word otherwise you end up with text looking like this. * I wanted this in italics * ** can you please bold this ** *** fat chance lady *** get your syntax right.

Oops. I wanted this in italics can you please bold this fat chance lady: But You Got it

I have tried to combine the usage of different syntax as much as possible to show you what you can do to combine them and make your posts look good. Keep steeming and try different things. Also, I have not included everything but mostly the basics. If you feel there is anything missing or even another post that can explain anything further please put it in the comments so as to help all the new members find their way around.

From me Happy Sunday. Happy Steeming!!
