Helping Elderly Widow: Making Asam Sunti to Find Cost of Living

The body is not always able to work hard to meet the needs of life. Because of the body's condition may no longer be forced to work optimally. Everyone will grow old in time. When old age has arrived, the strength of the limbs also ages. In the 21st century, improvements in nutrition and health care have extended life expectancy.

Photo 1. Elderly widow that I help

Mak Kuta is an Elderly Widow from Ulee Glee, Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia. She is a widow whose husband died. She is very old and lives alone at home. His house is not too far from my house. Her house is about 150 meters from my house, I @nadiaturrina one of her grandchildren. I can't help him with much. I am currently a student living in a dormitory. Every Friday, I come home to visit and help with all his activities.

Photo 2. I Came When Mak Kuta was Working

Today, Friday, March 26, 2021. I asked permission from the head of the dormitory to return home. Then go to grandma's house to help whatever she needs. I arrived at Mak Kuta's house. I saw Mak Kuta drying rice and it's finished. I went to the kitchen and got a glass of water for him.
I asked about grandma's condition lately. He shared several things related to his body's health so far. I listened while massaging the grandmother's legs. Her skin looks wrinkled, and her hair is covered with gray. The veins look neatly arranged on his hands. I'm grateful that grandma is still healthy

Photo 3. This is the Averrhoa bilimbi that we Want to pick

At 10:23 a.m. Mak Kuta asked me to help her pick Averrhoa bilimbi. I headed to the destination following her. Alhamdulillah, the Averrhoa bilimbi is very much. He plans to make Asam Sunti acid. Asam Sunti is a kitchen spice from Aceh made from Averrhoa bilimbi which is dried and given salt, then dried in the sun many times so that it is dry and can be stored for a long time. After Asam Sunti dries up, She kept it, distributed some of the others to the neighbor next to his house, and sold it to the Ulee Gle market. Usually, the agents come to her house and buy it directly. When the star fruit harvest last year, I helped deliver it to a neighbor's house. How to make it is not too difficult. You only need to pick the ripe star fruit. Then you dry it in the hot sun until the star fruit water comes out. Every afternoon you sprinkle salt so that when it is dry it can last a long time. God willing, one day, I will explain in detail the procedures for making Averrhoa bilimbi acid.

I looked at the clock, it shows 11.45 am. I lifted the sack containing star fruit. Then returned to grandma's house. When I got home, I sat next to my grandmother. He asked about my wedding ceremony. I answered shyly after class without looking at him. Azan zuhr reverberated. I asked grandmother's permission to go home.

That's my activity @nadiaturrina today. The smile on his face makes me happy. Thanks to @steemwomenclub for creating the women club chain of goodness. Part of the results of this post I gave to Mak Kuta. Thousands of thanks to the supporters of this community: @steemcurator01 @steemcurator02 @booming.
