Films to Watch Before You Die #20: Whisper of the Heart by Studio Ghibli
The beauty and innocence of love during youth is displayed in the most relaxing, heart-warming fashion in Studio Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart; one of my favourite animations by the studio given the sheer visual beauty of the film.
I understand that animation, particularly Japanese animation, can really put people off when it comes to films and TV shows, but there really is a plethora of hidden masterpieces that can easily change your views. Almost any Studio Ghibli animation is one of such masterpieces.
A young aspiring writer grows increasingly intrigued towards a particular name that appears to have withdrawn the same books as her from the local library; she soon finds and befriends the guy, who is also a creative: he is incredibly skillful at crafting and playing the violin. Whisper of the Heart is all romance, though. It is a story of finding yourself as a creative, and how another creative can be the source of your motivation to consistently try to both improve and succeed.
Studio Ghibli's forever-calming animation through beautiful details and colours breathes additional life into its narrative, with the visuals really setting an atmosphere of innocence, safety, and love. Whisper of the Heart is just one of many of the studio's incredible creations, and you have to see it.
