STEEMCHURCH: Victory over temptation!

in #steemchurch7 years ago (edited)

Dear brothers of @steemchurch, I would like to tell you about the temptation and how to be victorious before it. It is always good to reflect on the temptation because every human being, whether Christian or not, will have to face the temptation to commit evil. Temptation is everywhere, we can not ignore it.

I think there has never been a generation as tempted as ours. We are constantly harassed by posters, the Internet, television, fashion, money, sexuality, power, lust, laziness, and many other sins that haunt our lives. Of course, the temptation has existed since our origin but today it is growing.

In the Bible temptation is defined as an incentive to sin, and its sources are: Satan (Matthew 4.3), the world (1 John 2.15-17) and our own flesh (James 1.14).

If temptation is unleashed around us, God has provided us with the means to be victorious. (1 Corinthians 10.13)

God, who is faithful, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength; but with temptation he will also prepare the way out, so that you can bear it. To do this, you must study the Bible and pray to obtain the judgment and power to fight against temptation.

The Bible tells us the story of Jesus in the desert when he was tempted:

In the Gospel of Matthew in chapter 4:

1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 After having fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3 Then the tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones be made into loaves."
4 Jesus answered: It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Temptation is part of our life. The test makes it possible to prove the quality of a thing or a person, gold is tested by fire. Before temptation we know who we are.

When we look at the first temptation with a purely human gaze, we do not see evil. Satan recognizes that Jesus is the son of God, he says to Jesus: "make this stone into bread so you can eat." However, behind this, Satan wants to cause Jesus to sin in a specific area. The danger of this temptation is that it invites Jesus to act independently of the will of God. We must be attentive in this type of temptation, because we should not think of ourselves without looking at the Word and the will of God.

Sometimes Satan will come and tempt us into areas that seem legitimate to us, but behind that, his goal is to get away from God's plan for us. Let us be attentive to this type of temptation because it is one of the most subtle.

"Let us not fall into this subtle temptation, let us do the will of God."

You know what the common temptation is: To want to succeed without the way of the cross! "This temptation has knocked down a large number of Christians, we want the fulfillment of God's promises in our lives without carrying our cross, we want fulfillment without the process.

How many have prostrated themselves before Satan for success? However, each individual must understand that the supreme government belongs to God and not to Satan. The success of those who prostrate themselves before Satan is fleeting. Satan attracts us by material and temporal things, but God attracts us by the treasures of heaven.

Many fall into sin out of ignorance. Increasingly, we are in a society where people mix the good and the bad. When they go to God they have no milestone, good is called evil and evil is called good.

Knowing the Scriptures is a key to victory over temptations. However, to believe that this is enough to win the victory is a decoy. To win the victory over temptation we must know the Word but also receive from God the strength necessary not to succumb to it.

When Jesus was tempting in the desert for Satan, he was praying, and he stood firm against temptation, that is why we should pray not to fall into temptation; the mind is well disposed, but the flesh is weak.

It is important to pray to the Lord daily to stay away from temptation and have the strength to be victorious, and do not forget that Satan attracts us for material and temporal things, but God attracts us for the treasures of heaven.

Around us there is a demonic world that has only one desire, to bring down the children of God. We should not be ignorant of their attacks. In prayer and Bible study we must seek the good judgment and power necessary to obtain victory over temptation.

In the face of temptation, God commands us:

Therefore, sin does not reign in your mortal body, so that you obey it in its lusts (Romans 6:12).
