✅ Are there homeless people in your country?

Yes, there are many homeless people in my country. According to an official statistics, the number of homeless people in Bangladesh is about 10 lakhs. And due to the increase in population, the number of these people is also increasing.

There are not so many homeless people in rural areas or in our areas. However, if you go to Dhaka city, that is the capital of our country, you can see many buffaloes living on the roadside. If you go out at night, you can see that there are wheelbarrows, sacks of straw or on the sidewalks. Homeless people sleep wrapped in blankets.

✅ What do you think is the cause that leads these people to be on the street, homeless and without a family?

I want to highlight poverty as the root cause of homelessness. A lot of poor people live in our country. Even most of the people live below the poverty line. So these people rush to the capital from all over the country to change their fate and find a livelihood.

Bringing this large population under employment is an impossible task. That is why they are forced to do low paying jobs. Which cannot give them good food, clothes or house to live in. And because of this, these people are forced to spend their horrible lives on the sidewalks or streets in the unknown streets of Dhaka city far away from their families.

✅ Has the government tried to try or create decent shelters to help these people?

Our country's government took a landmark step to reduce the number of homeless people in 1997. However, at that time, the speed of their project was very slow. But now, since the corona period, the government has taken a good enough step to bring the homeless people under a safe shelter, as a result of which, so far, about 3 lakh 73 thousand 562 houses have been provided to these homeless people.

Through which these huge number of homeless people have got shelter to shelter their own heads. At the end of the day they are able to sleep in a comfortable place where sun or rain will not disturb them. The government is working continuously to bring the rest of the people under this scheme. Hope that day is very far. Not when people across the country live in their own homes and escape the curse of homelessness.

✅ What could you propose so that these people do not remain in this dark world?

Homeless people engage in various illegal vices in the night to feed themselves besides occupying their sleeping quarters. In which heinous acts like theft, robbery and even murder. However, they all do these things to satisfy their hunger. Therefore, I think if the government provides employment to them without being harsh on them, then the amount of their bad deeds will decrease.

In our country, the cities are dirty everywhere due to lack of cleaning staff, sometimes the drains on the night side get blocked due to dirt. So, I think that if these homeless people are given the responsibility of cleaning the city and streets, then our environment will be clean. It will protect us from diseases and also keep the city beautiful, prevent biodiversity change and most importantly, create an employment for these homeless people. As a result, they will turn into an ideal citizen of the country from the good path without stepping into the dark world.
